I had a strong pain in my back molar and my dentist proscribed this to me. I came on Web MD to look it up as always and I noticed all the reviews and I started to read them. Let me say that I was scared to take it, but I am very happy that I did. I did not have any side effects and my pain is gone! I only had to take it for 7 days. If you read the reviews, just remember that usually the only time ...

I was given this in November. I was nervous to take this after reading reviews and did not take until 2 weeks after I received it. I was suffering so bad that I decided to take it. In December I got c-diff from taking it. On my 4th round of antibiotics now and it is May. Drs said antibiotics don't work they will have to do a fecal transplant. I even took probiotics with it as recommended. I am a ...

I was given clindamycin for a dental issue, After four days it was making me sick so I stopped taking it . When I was taking it I was eating kefir and yogurt to make sure my gut would be ok. Apparently you can have side effects weeks after you take it I should of known better and never taken this antibiotic . It's now 45 days later my stomach is slowly getting better but still acts up .My naturopath tested me for h pylori that was negative and waiting for the c diff test. If that is positive I will be having my naturopath treat me no more antibiotics for me ever, I will just go the naturopathic IV route which is safer and just as effectiveRead More Read Less

I have had a serious sinus problem for over 18 months. Finally, an ENT scope showed I have nasal polyps and infection. Taking this for 3 weeks. The every 6 hours schedule is a pain as you have to take a dose during the night; AND you better take it with food or you will get an upset stomach/nausea. But, it has worked very well. I am breathing easy again for the first time in 18 months.

Prescribed clindamycin for a tooth infection after a two year root canal. I am allergic to penicillin. The medication kicked in about day 2 and I was feeling a lot better. However on day 3, I began to have severe chest pain, a feeling like something was stuck in my throat, severe burning in my esophagus, no appetite and clay colored stool. I thought it was just severe heartburn but when it didn't go away after a couple of days, I went to the ER. They ran all types of tests and all checked out normal--even gave me "cocktail" to coat my esophagus, prescribed Pepcid AC for the inflammation of my esophagus and sent me home. I was still in severe pain. Never once did they consider that it was an adverse reaction to the medication. I returned home and did extensive research and found that several of my symptoms were rare side effects of the medication. I immediately stopped taking it. Things got worse before they got better. My chest pain and burning sensation episodes intensified as well as the onset of bloody diarrhea. This lasted for another 2-3 days. I am feeling much better but I have now been off of it for about 7 days and I no longer have the burning in my esophagus and can eat something other than soup, and no more diarrhea or crazy colored stool. I'd take extreme CAUTION when taking this drug as the side effects are grueling! I hope my infection is cleared up because I refuse to go back on it.Read More Read Less

I was Clindamycin along with Sulfamethoxazole. I was taking it for a lump in breast. I was only able to stand it 2 days. I had the most horrible pounding headache, along with weird shaking that was uncontrollable I was supposed to take 150mgs. 2 x day. Stopped using it. Kept taking the Sulfamethoxazole though. I won't ever take Clindamycin again.

I had an infected molar, dentist prescribed Clindamycin for 5 days before pulling tooth. I have had a strong metal taste in my mouth ever since, has been 7 months since tooth was pulled. It has ruined my ability to taste, everything tastes like I’m eating metal.

Clindamycin was prescribed to me for a tooth infection. Do not take this! It gave me a C Diff infection. Which can be very hard to treat. This drug should be banned. I would have never taken this if I knew what was about to happen. Severe diarrhea and abdominal pain. It was horrendous.

I took this medicine for severe pain caused by the need for a root canal. I had no side effects at all and it stopped the pain in a short period of time. Taking it every 6 hours was the only nuisance because it would get me up early or make me stay up late. The horror stories recorded here did not happen for me at all.

It has been one month and I am STILL suffering the side effects of this unbelievably aggressive antibiotic. I will NEVER take this monster drug unless I am in mortal danger. It has wiped out my GI tract. Just horrible!!!!! Extreme fatigue, bloating, cramping, nausea — still!! Read everything you can about the severity of the side effects, consult your doctor on ALL aspects — and BEWARE!!!

(Rarely take antibiotics, asthmatic & T2 controlled by diet) Prescribed as 2nd med for insect bite. At first had swollen area the size of a pencil eraser. Tripled in size in 3 days (bright red). 4th day began Keflex - expected to improve 5-6th day. 7th day, more swollen, 2” diameter + spreading along orbital bone area. Felt hot. Referred to ER & was switched to Clindamycin, 3x day, 300mg x 10 days. Able to take 2 doses that day. Visibly improved on 9th day. 10th day not warm & much smaller and so on each day. Milder & even less frequent ‘queasiness’ than Keflex - not a bad trade off to avoid brain infection or eye damage, etc. Would use it as necessary in a heartbeat.Read More Read Less

I ended up having an Anaphylaxis reaction 3 days after first dose taken. Fast spreading deep swollen hives and closing up throat and labored breathing growing hard to breath. Immediately stopped taking prescription, drove self to local hospital ER for medical attention.

Never ever allow a doctor or more importantly a dentist to prescribe this monster drug to you, your family or anyone you care about. It empties you colon of good bacteria and allows invasive pathogens to take over. I have been suffering for 2 weeks with no relief in sight. Take charge of your health and discuss alternative options with your healthcare provider.

Was given this as a preventative for a cat bite. I was only able to stomach it for a few days. My cat bite never got infected. Now a few weeks later I have Severe C Diff from this antibiotic. Now I have to take another antibiotic for 8 weeks. DO NOT TAKE this unless you are dying. Ask for something else .Bloody diarrhea and nausea is what your risking if you take this.

I used this medication due to a serious oral infection. Of course there are risks so jumping to an antibiotic the second i had a 1 second ache was not what happened Anyway 7 days, 4 x a day and the infection went away. If you read the bottle it says take woth a full glass of water and do not lay down. One pill i thought it will be fine...ill go to bed, im sick and tired... my esophagus burned and i wanted to cry. . I never did that again. So use it when required. If your questioning if the side effects are worse then your infections you probay did not need it and ran to the doctor demanding antibioric or did not read the label Take some responsibilty for yourselves and your health. It is not the antibioitc. Your the issueRead More Read Less

Been prescribed this for a tooth infection. 300MG for four times a day for 10 days. Didn't finish this antibiotic because I broke out in a rash all over my body. I'm now waiting to see if the rash clears up. If not, I'll be going to the ER for an opinion. I will never take this drug again.

After a 5-day course, this medication cleared the sinus infection but caused dizzy spells, diarrhea and a vaginal infection. Reading the small print, it could have been so much worse. Beware!

For the last 9 years I've been on Clindamycin and will likely be taking it forever. During my service in Army aviation I took a big hit. Broke every bone from my left hand side of my body, from pelvis smashed into 12 pieces, to my ankle, cut the achilles tendon as well. (Never broke a bone prior to this) Surgeons rebuilt me as if I was Humpty Dumpty. I saw so many around me catching all sorts of infections, I dodged being infected, but years later I was diagnosed with a low grade infection in the area of my total hip replacement. So I've been on 300mg of Clindamycin 3x day. I've never had any side effects from Clindamycin, with the exception of one; heat. I perceive that I'm overheating, that I can live with.
