It took me 3 nights to figure out I just needed 1/3 of the pill to sleep all night and not feel sleepy the next day. I absolutely love it. I have restless leg syndrome and ADHD so sleeping at night without meds is impossible. I just hope there are no long term effects from using it every night. Does anybody know if there are?

I've been taking medication for sleep on & off for 20 years. THEY ALL CAN BE DANGEROUS & ALL ARE ADDICTING! With that said, I would never suggest anyone taking anything for sleep for more than 3 days UNLESS under the CONSTANT (weekly) care of a seasoned sleep professional that KNOWS that all of these medications have the potential to become addictive and can be dangerous. I've literally been to ov...

Easy to use but taken 5 different times and caused horrible nightmares. Tossed and turned most of the night definitely not a sound sleep. No more of this for me. Be cautious when taking.

This drug I tried. Very expensive, not in my drug plan formulation. I had to pay $200 for ten pills. I tried it twice for bed. Did nothing.

I would take Tylenol cool blast cold and flu night time for colds mostly. It would dry my nose and stop drainage. It also helped with coughing. When you feel so bad you can’t sleep this medicine was the bomb. I would wake up rested and ready for the day. I would love to be able to buy it for times like that.

I occasionally experience bouts of insomnia, and during these times, I rely on doxylamine which has consistently proven effective for me. I make a point to take this medication around 8 pm, ensuring that I'm asleep within the following hour. It is important to note that I always take doxylamine approximately one to two hours prior to my intended bedtime.

I absolutely love this medication! I work in a stressful job, and for a period of about two weeks, I was just having terrible trouble sleeping. At first, I would just take diphenhydramine, which was effective at making me drowsy, but after a few hours, I would wake up and be awake all night. After taking doxylamine succinate, I slept for more than nine hours without waking up! It was WONDERFUL. It was so nice to sleep all night long! I will say this though, as others have mentioned, I was felt a little "hungover" and sleepy the next day. I slept solidly that next night without any medication at all. You want to ensure that you can dedicate at least 8 or 9 hours to sleep! I would recommend taking 1/2 a pill or 1/2 a dose (if liquid). I don't use this often but definitely say I will use it again if needed - but again - probably half a dose.Read More Read Less

Got drowsy right away! Tried this for 2 nights. Slept, but it was a horrible night’s sleep with terrible, disturbing nightmares all night long. Yes, I also experienced “hangover” effects which include really severe headaches. I discontinued using it 2 nights ago. I still have the headache! I will not take it again.

Since childhood I've experienced occasional insomnia, as an adult this became more frequent leaving me tired during the day with a strong need to sleep mid-afternoon. I tried this OTC drug as prescribed by a pharmacist and once I got the dosage and timing right it has been a miracle for me. I take it almost every night. Half a tablet is still enough after nearly ten years, even a quarter. Rising at 6am I try to make sure I've taken it by 8:30pm and am asleep by 10. (In my experience a full tablet taken at 10:30pm left me almost incapacitated the next working day!) Slight drowsiness on waking is cleared with tea or coffee and a shower or face wash. This medication has allowed me to experience a sharpness in the day that I rarely recall from before I encountered it. There appears to be little building of tolerance over the ten year period. If I come off it I wake at around 3/4am now and function in a less optimal state than if I had used it - sometimes reminding me of my early working years.Read More Read Less

I was waking up around 2am every night, restavit keeps me asleep until 6am. I recommend only taking a quarter of a tablet, works for me very time and gets me back in a rhythm

I have just realised some months later that this drug probably caused me to have an alarming incident of barely urinating for two days, of course over a long weekend when I could not get to the doctor’s. After the weekend, my doctor ordered several tests to check on my bladder, which showed nothing because I had stopped taking the tablets. I foolishly did not read all the possible side effects of doxylamine and failed to connect it to the bladder problems and forgot to tell my doctor I had taken it for the first time for a couple of days. I was able to take it later with no effect on my bladder, but it then started making me feel very unwell in the mornings, including having my bedroom rotate across my vision very disturbingly one morning. Again, I failed to connect this for a while. I am unwell from something else rather serious and just thought my symptoms were getting worse. Shame it has all these side effects, because it did help me to get to sleep. Try with caution, but read all the side effects carefully and don’t forget to tell your doctor about any OTC medications you are taking.Read More Read Less

I took half a tablet as other sleep medications have made me unbearably drowsy. With this one I felt weirdly light headed, woke up every hour and had intense weird dreams. My issue is with falling asleep. I usually stay asleep, but not with restavit.

Have had terrible insomnia for years and the pharmacist recommend restavit. Was feeling really tired so took 1/4 tablet and went to bed. No effect, so took the another 1/4. Still no effect. Ended up taking 2 tablets but still did not get to sleep. Another sleepless night. Did not work for me at all :(

I've struggled with insomnia for most of my life. I only use 1/4 of a tablet, and it helps me drift into a beautifully easy sleep within 20-30 minutes. It has worked every time, and I sleep solidly through the night. I may experience a bit of grogginess in the morning, but this soon wears off when I'm up and about. My concern is that I am relying on them too much, and I don't know what longterm effects there might be.

I was recommended this by my doctor as I stopped taking Mirtazapine due to weight gain. I was advised to take half a tablet to avoid next day drowsiness. Unfortunately I got around 4 hours of broken sleep and feel like a zombie. It kept me awake and not feeling sleepy in the slightest. So tired today now so hopefully I’ll sleep. Won’t be using it again.

This doesn't make me tired at all. I know the box says don't do it but I've taken 3 tablets and still felt nothing. Granted, I used to take prescription medication for sleep and my body got used to those so maybe my system doesn't react as well to "non-prescription" sleep meds.

I’ve taken one pill a night with a tiny amount of melatonin for years and always have the best sleep. However now I wake with terrible anxiety, lethargy and depression. It doesn’t go for a couple of hours then I am fine. It’s really affecting my life so I think I may try melatonin only.

I love this stuff but I just read it can cause dementia and Alzheimer’s with prolonged use. I take this every night now I’m scared.

I just started taking this recently. I took an entire tablet the first time (25mg) and slept through my alarm and was drowsy the next day, so I started taking half of one and so far it's been just effective enough - I sleep through the night without waking up and don't feel drowsy after taking it.

i have been desperate for an over the counter sleep aid after struggling with insomnia. i lay in bed all night long with my eyes closed hoping sleep will come at some point. no over the counter aid has helped. i had high hopes for doxylamine succinate, thinking maybe i build a tolerance to diphenhydramine, so i took THREE equate sleep aids.... but still. all night. no sleep. after reading other reviews i feel insanely cursed.
