I've been taking it for a couple of days, the cough is still so bad, I can hardly sleep or work (I work in a school where I have to talk, a lot!) I'm taking it as directed. I am on the third full day; I'm supposed to be taking it for 10. I may as well down a bottle of NyQuill!

This is a miracle pill. It worked wonders for me. I was at wits end coughing uncontrollably . I could feel the inflammation in my airway. My ribs were so sore. 15 mins after taking this pill my coughing stopped completely. I' m so grateful to be one of the lucky ones.

Very dry cough 24/7 for two weeks. This medication does not work. I'm having better luck with over the counter Coricidin

Prescribed at Walk-in Clinic. I only went because I was recently diagnosed with Glaucoma and my OTC med (that’s worked in the past) indicated not to take if you have Glaucoma. This medication had the opposite effect of what is indicated, ie didn’t make me drowsy, but instead I became more agitated/restless. My cough didn’t subside and my sinusitis seemed to have gotten worse. I was anxious and nauseous. I took it for 7 days (3 days less than prescribed) and after I stopped taking it, I already started feeling much better and my nose is not stuffed and I am not anxious or nauseous. I haven't had much luck with cough medicines, but my first dose helped within 30 minutes. I still can cough to get rid of gunk, but am not coughing so hard I cry. The medication is working far better than I expected and much better than Nyquil/Dayquil. It has made me a tiny bit sleepy, but NOTHING compared to any other cold/cough medications. My first dose lasted all night for me and did not need to retake until the next morning. Which I was still doing well, but did not want to slip back into the uncontrollable coughing. Did nothing for my cough. Still can’t get sleep due to cough. Chest hurts from cough.

First night, cough increased and I felt like it increased the mucus. I also had a bloody nose and loose bowels shortly after taking it. Thinking may be unrelated, I took again on the second night as I was primarily coughing more in the evening. Within 15 - 30 mins...same symptoms, a tad less severe than the night before, but otherwise I was not experiencing that level of cough throughout the entire day. Symptoms did subside more quickly and were manageable as long as I kept drinking water and tried to sleep sitting up in a recliner (but I was also up more going to the bathroom because of having to drink water). I get colds often lately due to people coming to work sick or being around kids. 4 weeks consistently into this last cold that included painful dry cough making my chest and diaphragm hurt from coughing so aggressively. A visit to the hospital produced clear chest X-ray. They gave me this stuff because I can sleep or function without constant cough drops I’ve consumed by the dozen. Eager for relief as all the best OTC stuff was no longer responding. After I the first dose, no relief. I had this cough for weeks so gave it another try…few more doses and now this cough is angry, dry vicious spasms!!! I barely sleep 3 hours per night. Feels like a placebo!!! Made cough much worst! I did not have a cough but was prescribed to take to keep from coughing. Lungs still tight from virus. Can’t breathe very easy. Need relief from tightness.

I had substantial relief from a cough that stemmed from a virus that exacerbated my asthma.

Has done nothing to help calm down my cough. I cant sleep at night because i am coughing so much. waste of money

Dr. prescribes saying over-the-counter drugs are not really beneficial. I took this one and it did no difference than the NyQuil. NyQuil allowed me to sleep all night without coughing this one did not..

Doesn't work

This medicine is just not effective. Took 3 doses (600 mg) and absolutely no improvement in my cough. At least I’m not having side effects. But still, what a waste. Do not take this for a cough as it does not work. Studies are now proving it to be ineffective.

This is my 7th time using Benzonatate and has don't nothing for me. And I keep telling the doctors that it doesn't work for me that I need an actual good cough syrup that will work but every time I try to advocate for myself about certain things they pay no attention. So right now it's 5am on Wednesday and I haven't slept more than 8hrs since Saturday. I'm exhausted and need some relief. This is a junk medicine that just needs to be removed from the shelves and never used again.

This does not work at all during the heavy days of a cough virus. For a light lingering cough it can help a little. Doctors are afraid to prescribe what works because that is codine - one dose of this stops the cough so well it ends my cough and significantly improves my wellbeing.

After 3 weeks of constant coughing and congestion and trying every over the counter med, the Dr. prescribed this. It took a few days to get relief, but after a week, my cough is gone. I am very satisfied how this med worked for me.

Did nothing for cough from Bronchitis- ribs hurt from coughing.

Instant nausea, stomach cramps and diarrhea. Zero improvement in cough. This stuff does not work for me at all, I won't take it again.
