I have been taking Opana ER 40mg Tablets every 12 hours for chronic pain. I think that it is the best around the clock opioid pain medication out there. I have been on Oxycontin, MSContin, Methadone(for Pain), Dilaudid, and fentanyl, along with oxycodone 30mg IR tablets as needed four times a day. The Opana ER has worked way better and actually lasts very close to the 12 hours that it is suppos...

My chronic severe pain is impossible to eliminate, but using Opana in extended release form (80mg doses twice a day) helps more than anything else I've tried, which is every general type of pain medication, and it seems perhaps also most specific varations of them. I get extremely severe pain still, requiring an immediate-release (BTP) med as well (rotated to fight tolerance between things like oxycodone 60mg doses or hydromorphone/Dilaudid 16mg doses, every 3-4 hours as needed). But ON AVERAGE, my pain level is less than with any other med I've taken orally (that is, without it being something extremely strong via IV in a hospital, but not morphine, which I can barely feel & doesn't help my pain at all: too weak). I have NEVER HAD ANY SIDE EFFECTS AT ALL, which is amazing for me given my usual sensitivity to meds. A friend does have bad SE from much smaller doses than I take, so as with all these meds, whether or not it works for you &/or produces side effects varies from one person to the next. For me, this med is amazing. Best yet, orally. TOLERANCE will be an issue, & I had to increase dosage after a few months, as you'd expect from any daily use of opioids, of course.Read More Read Less

I have been on percocet 10/325 for 5 yrs. My pain mgmnt dr. added valium and opana. I was taking the GENERIC opana as needed (every 6 hrs) for break thru pain, DID NOTHING without the percocet and the valium to sleep at night. Today I had to fill another script for the opana and was told I must have the BRAND (round pill 10 one side and "E" on the other). Don't know how it will work. TRUST ME there IS a difference in the brand and generic and most importantly the MANUFACTURER. I had the Generic Percocet (slipped up and went to Rite-Aid that only have QUALITEST) OH MY GOD. Night sweats, nightmares, itching, upset stomach. After the first one I went back to the pharmacy and was fortunate enough to get a pharmacist that said YES there is a difference in the maker. I only use ENDOCET, MULLENKROPFT OR now and I ask before they begin the process WHO IS THE MANUFACTURER. Yes sometimes I get funny looks but we the patients sometimes know more about the medications then the pharmacist and the dr. My L1-6 on right side and L1-3 on left, herniated, dislocated collarbone, Arthritis in lower back and carpal tunnel (had the surgery in 2006, what a waste). Now I also use the STAODYN Max Elite electrodes device that helps a bit combined with the medication.Just took the first BRAND OPANA (2:45pm est) don't feel anything to write about. had 3 percoets this morning and I have my electrodes on while Im at work. Lets see how I feel at 6pm. TO ALL OF MY COLLEAGUES OF PAIN..I PRAY THIS WILL BE THE BEST YEAR OF OUR LIVES AND WE WILL ALL BE PAIN-FREE, AT THE LEAST MANAGABLE WITHOUT HAVING TO BE ZOMBIES.Read More Read Less

Started on Demerol 25mg as directed for chronic pain in1985. By 2011 my dose was increased to 100mg. I was able to increase my dose at anytime but 100mg made my pain tolerable and I was ok with that. If it's not broke why fix it? Moved to Nevada & can't find a Dr. Who will prescribe this. I was given the lowest dose of Opana & it was horrible. Took 1 dose. Didn't take away the pain, only made me itch all day & nite! Also, had me hearing things in my head, as if a party was going on. I believe it has a derivative of Morphine which I also cannot take & told the Dr. Neveda MD's give you what they want to give you. Therefore, so far I stopped allowing these Doctors to break me,…even more! If you can't take morphine, I suggest not to use this drug. Best of health to you!Read More Read Less

So far I have no complaints about this medication.I take it 2x a day.I'd rather take 2 than the 6 to 8 plus Lortabs I was once taking along with a multitude of muscle relaxers.I just don't like the bitter taste of them.

Following four hip surgeries, lumbar disc replacement, I am left with chronic, intense pain. I have been on the lowest dose of Vicodin for several years, four times a day. Opana 20 - extended release, has allowed me to stretch the Vicodin to keep to the four times daily, which was becoming very difficult. My pain is managed to a "bearable" tolerance level.

Opana ER 20 mgs is what I am taking. They worked the best until they reformulated them, now they are like taking a asprin,so disappointed, they are now round and not effective at all,if you can find the 8 sided ones you have a goldmine.Good Luck on finding them out there.

Used to work, was like a miracle. I have multiple, very painful conditions and found little relief. Then prescribed opana er 30mg then 40 mg. then they changed the formula. Had to switch off because it stopped working! My pain has returned and now I'm back to being a miserable waste of life! Thanks for ruining what I had.

I was taking opana before the change for fibromyalgia and mid back pain and it was fantastic. However the ne formulation just does not work. I now have severe stomach cramps, rls, headaches, and still more pain. My quality of life was taken away. Thanks FDA and endo, for ruining the one medication that gave me my life back!

I am taking opana er 40 mg. twice a day and have little pain relief. Very depressed, moody, high blood pressure, and eat like a horse. I was taking oxy er 60 mg. twice a day that worked much better. Like the rest of you, I will be calling my pain clinic doctor and have him switch back. Good luck all

The new Opana ER formulation does nothing for pain relief, it only stops WD symptoms.

I have a herniated disk at L5/S1 that caused severe pain from my hip down to my ankle and foot. Vicodin wasn't effective. I was unable to sleep more than 3 or 4 hours per night. My pain management doctor prescribed Opana, which has allowed me to sleep 7 hours on the first night and every night since. I'm able to continue with my life. I'm hopeful that with physical therapy, I can avoid surgery.

I would rather be back on morphene 30mg, three times a day, worked best for me. Tired of the headaches.
