I've been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, and inject myself every other week. This works great for the first week, but then it seems to start wearing off, and I start to go downhill. Other than that, I've had no side effects at all. This was a miracle drug for me - the only thing besides prednisone that helps me feel better and calms the swelling.

I'd been using Humira to treat Ankylosing Spondylitis for about 4 years. While it seemed to help some, I experienced severe complications, which I attribute to the Humira. I contracted a severe case of Shingles on forehead, scalp and Eye. (Humira users at 70-80% higher risk for contracting Shingles), and a Cancer which had been in remission for 10 years, returned.

Psoriatic arthritis is incurable and progressive. No matter what drug I use, there is no silver bullet, and remission is rare. With that in mind,I reviewed the drug in terms of how well I do with it, as opposed to when I have to go without it (i.e., if I have an infection or open wound). There is a definite improvement in my quality of life. Pain killers are still necessary, and employers are not always good about accommodating this disability, but the drug itself is the most useful and convenient I have found. Until medical science finds something else that is better, I will use this medication regularly as prescribed. I am lucky my husband's insurance covers it, because it would otherwise be very costly.Read More Read Less

I was have been on 6mp, Azocol, and Remecade (which I had a severe reaction to) and none of them have worked as well as Humira. I have been in Humira for 8 years and have been in remission for the majority of that time. I have moderate to severe crohns and Humira has worked wonders. The cost is quite expensive but there are financial help programs available through Abbott Laboratories. My only issue now is that I have just found out I am Pregnant (unexpected but happy) and I am very unsure about continuing Humira at this time. Has anyone else become pregnant and remained on Humira? Started Humira 4 months ago, noticed improvement almost immediately. I take it with MTX and prednisone, alternately dropping both one at a time, but found out I needed all three to be comfortable. Now going to start every week instead of every two weeks.Always something isn't it?

I've had rheumatoid for over 20 years. I started Humira shortly after it came on the market. It was like a miracle. I am a musician and thanks to Humira I've been able to be pretty much pain free the whole time, until just recently. About 2 months ago I woke up with terrible pain in my shoulders, neck and wrists. Went to my rheumatologist and then had an MRI which showed torn rotator cuffs in both shoulders. The orthapaedist gave me 2 shots of cortisone in each shoulder which took away all the pain. about 3 weeks later I started getting what seemed like a flare which I haven't had for 8 years or more. I took 10 mg of prednisone which knocked it out. About 1 week later I started getting a flare again and again took the prednisone which helped me get through that night where I had a gig outside where it was a little chilly. The following morning I awoke with one of the worst flare ups I've ever had. Every joint in my body was in extreme pain. Called my rheumy and he said try the 10mg prednisone for one week and let him know my status. I'm afraid the the Humira has stopped working and now I have to switch to another biologic. Oh well that's my story. It worked great for a long time. But as they say nothing lasts forever!Read More Read Less

I have just finished the first month of this medicine . So far I have not seen a lot of healing , even with salves and over the counter creams . I have been fighting psoriasis for four years . I beleive it is brought on by having hypo-thyroid disease and stress. I am also losing my scalp hair and my fingernails do not seem to grow normally .

I have been using Humira for 5 weeks now. I had my 4th shot today. After suffering for 30 years trying everything, I have to say that I am amazed that in 3 weeks my hands and arms are almost completely clear, and they were really, REALLY bad! Long pants, long sleeved shirts in the summer is not living! I'm finally able to wear short sleeved shirts to work! Looking forward to wearing shorts and capri's, that other ppl take for granted. I'm going to do ALL of the things I haven't been able to while i'm clearing, and clear, go to the beach, take a vacation "in the summertime" and live normal while I can. I'll worry about down the road when I get there! I'm not crazy about needles, and my Dr tells me she will give me all of my shots.. NO CO-Pay for my Dermatologist visit while teaching and injecting there! She is my Angel! The shots burn, and seems to last a few hours for me. I had swelling on my 2nd shot in the stomach. Today my leg is itchy, and there is a good size lump this time. If anyone has any idea's to relieve this, i'd appreciate any positive advice. Best wishes to all of us that fight this battle!Read More Read Less

I have been taking this medication for a few years now, I started when I was 18 years old and started having swelling joints and sharp pains. After many different attempts with other medications my doctor prescribed Humira Pen to me. I at first was very uneasy about having to take injections twice a month but after being shown how to use this injection it was very easy for me to use on my own. Humira has worked wonders on my body and finally my body's no longer stiff and in pain. Thanks Humira!

I have psoriasis that covers 75% of my body(mainly legs, arms, hips, sides of my stomach). Nothing worked for me till I took Humira. I was so upset because my psorasis was embarrassing and it wasn't bad enough to take biologics. I sure was glad when I finally could. I was on Humira for 2 months and within 3 weeks, I was completely clear. Only some white spots were on my legs, but sun took care of that. I haven't been back to my dermatologist in two months and my psoriasis has come back on my hips and thighs. Luckily i will go back next week. I feel as if I will have to stay on the shot forever but it sure beats wearing jeans and long sleeve shirts in the summer! I highly recommend this for anyone who has struggled with psoriasis physically and mentally! No side effects.Read More Read Less

I'm 17 years old and have been using Humira for over 6 months now. I was on once every two weeks but it's moved to once a week now. My body still hurts quite a bit but at least I can walk normally. My joints aren't that swollen anymore, though I still feel really stiff. Also, until recently, after my injections I would get a huge lump, and hives. Now I am taking benadrill an hour before I inject.
