Tussicaps are almost like a miracle drug for those with an upper respiratory issue. Takes about 20 minutes to kick in, about an hour to be fully effective, and lasts 10-12 hours. Almost completely eliminates cough - even seemingly impossible severe coughing - while drying up the congestion. Causes a little lightheadedness if taken without food, but it's an acceptable side effect to kill the cou...

It is horrible! I had a very restless night. In the morning I was vomiting extremely dizzy, and had a horrible headache. I will NEVER take this medication again!

I have had a chronic cough for 30 years. I have been prescribed every cough suppressant, inhaler, breathing apparatus, etc. but nothing works. Once I took my first Tussicap dose I never coughed again. I have never received a diagnosis regarding the cough. However once my former employer changed our medical insurance plan Tussicaps was no longer covered. So unfair. I guess I will just cough myself into my grave.

I had developed a respiratory infection with a bad cough that was keeping me up all night and continuing in the day. I was not able to do my job because of the cough. My doctor prescribed me Tussicaps to go along with an antibiotic and the results are amazing. My cough has went away and I am able to go back to my job without any worry.

I decided to see a doctor after about a week of coughing at night. It kept me up and looking back, I realized that I was afraid to go to sleep just because I knew I'd wake up coughing. The doctor prescribed the Tussicap and I took one when I got home. After about an hour or so, I noticed I was getting a little drowsy. A couple of hours later, I went to bed and.....I only woke up twice to get a drink of water (in which I had beside my bed). Bottom line...it worked!!! I didn't cough one time during the night. I got a great night's rest! I love this drug!!Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with a severe cold, and strep throat. I had a cough on top of strep and a very sore throat. In the past I was always given a cough medication in the form of a liquid. This was the first time I took a capsule. Tussicaps was very effective in controlling my cough and the hydrocodone was effective in easing my painful throat and body aches from the strep. I did not suffer any allergic reactions to this medication. It did make me a little lethargic, but at the same time the medication made me feel like I had more energy, and overall I felt good since the pain was lessened, and my cough was supressed. I recommend taking Tussicaps when you are in your home settled for the evening. It will relax you as well since it has the narcotic "Hydrocondone." I was able to sleep well through the night and had no hangover effect when I woke up the next morning. In fact I felt rejuventated and well rested. I also recommend drinking lots of fluids with Tussicaps since it contains an allergy medication as well, so it will dry you up. You will also go to the bathroom less frequently and have no bowel movements during the time you take Tussicaps. I had less bowel movements, but it was not to the level I felt any discomfort. I highly recommend Tussicaps. Ask your Doctor for them the next time you are suffering from a severe cold and have trouble sleeping through the night. Tussicaps will certainly get you through your cold, and lessen the effects of severe colds. Gatorade is an excellent choice to drink as a source of replenishing your fluid levels in your body. Taking this medication, as well as drinking Gatorade should get you on the road to recovery quickly. Only negative about Tussicaps is it can make some people depend on it and make it habit forming for a few people since it does cause a warm, soothing, and relaxed feeling while taking the medication. For me it did not lead to a habit, except to take it when I am suffering from a severe cold. Read More Read Less

severe reaction a few hours after taking only 1 tussicaps 10mg/8mg capsule - administered benedryl (maximum dose 3 times during day) and over 24 hours later still having some reactions although not at severe - contacted company to determine what ingredient most likely caused this effect so it can be avoided in the future - has been very scarey - large whelps which look almost like blisters and are very red and itch like crazy

Taking it for bronchitis, sinus infection and ear infection. Didn't expect it would make me unable to stay awake but as long as you are able to stay home in bed it at least helps you rest. Two days now and not feeling much better but I am sleeping. Unable to take antibiotics because of recent C Diff infection. It's funny to read the experiences of others, some say unable to sleep and I can't hold my eyes open. Speaking of, have double vision.

This one WORKS. At $5.50 apiece, it is pricey. But it works. Why waste money on so many others that do not work.

I was familiar with tussenex suspension, it is the best overall cough medicine ever conceived, the only problem is it's widespread abuse, so it's hard to get it prescribed. Remember to take with a big glass of water, and to eat something (even a few soda crackers) afterward, like all hydrocodones, it CAN make one feel a little nauseous on a total empty stomach. This pill last a long time and does the trick, for stopping the urge to cough, as well as deadening the pain in your chest and ribs if you had already "injured" them before you obtained the medicine. For quicker relief, you could ask your doctor for the liquid Tussenex Suspension, there is always a chance, that if they will write this script, they might also write the other.Read More Read Less

I had a bad cough and went to doctor, got prescription for the Tussicaps. Had to go to 3 different pharmacies before I found one that had Tussicaps. Just one dose of this drug made my cough subside, but also made me nauseous and dizzy for an entire day. I would rather cough.

Was in severe pain (chest, ribs, back, head) from a continuous cough for 4 days. This settled the coughing down within 3-4 hours and almost completely stopped it in about 6 hours. Pain gone. I'm pretty out of it (I've taken 2 and am ready for a 3rd), but am really thrilled to be out of pain and not coughing.

Never heard of the drug until I went to the doc for a cough and he prescribed it. Best thing I have ever taken to reduce the urge to cough.

This medicine was great!! I was really suspicious of a cough suppressant pill but was pleasantly surprised. In the past I have taken codine cough syrup and that puts me right out and will sleep for at least 6 hours. With TussiCaps I don't have to worry about a nasty taste or measuring. The only thing that i could say is a downside is that it makes me really relaxed and happy almost sleepy but can still get throu the day. Hopefully next time I get a nasty cough i'll get this again.

I had a flu that settled in my upper respiratory system. this medicine suppressed the cough, but more so stopped the burning pain in my chest. It did make me very drowsy, but that was ok with me. I was already out of work sick, so i just slept it off. I would not recomend it if you can't stay home to recover.
