I used Cimzia prefilled syringes for about 4 years. Because of Medicare and insurance I now go to the doctor's office and they use the reconstituted powder. I had almost no symptoms in the past. Within 2 weeks of starting the powder, my joints right behind my toes and the finger joints in my right hand swelled. I have some pain in my feet and stiffness in my right fingers. I also have major swelling and pain in my right forefinger joint just below the nail, but my doctor says that is not RA...that RA does not affect that first joint. Is there no synovial fluid in the first joint?Read More Read Less

I have AS and this treatment has been most effective, my concern now is what do I do now that Medicare has stopped paying for this extremely expensive drug, of which I will not be able to afford. Is there a back up drug that would be as effective??

The two needles bothered me and I didn't like going into my doctors office when I could take my older medication from home.

I have been taking Cimzia for 4 months and have had a significant decrease in stiffness & pain. I do have it infused at the dr. office because of insurance purposes. It is very expensive!!!! I don't believe it is effective as Remicade. (at least for me)
