I have been on Butrans for about 6 weeks now starting at 5mcg every 7days and increasing once a week up to 15mcg. I have just been increased to 30mcg to try to control my pain levels. I find it works great but wasnt quite enough for me without still having to take my breakthrough meds every 4 hrs that is the reason for the increase so here's hoping that the increase helps. the tape sticks great bu...

My comments and star rating concerns the generic patch by TEVA. I have been on Butrans for 3-5 years. For itching, when I first started the drug, I went to the manufacturer's website and found the tip to use Flonase under the patch when you first put it on. The name brand stays on, and the Flonase breaks the rash cycle that hot water on the patch starts. The name brand has good adhesion to the sk...

The patch does stay on skin the whole 7 days. There is no adhesive residue when you take it completely off. Needs better adhesive to stay on skin to give the drug a chance to work.

I have been on this medication for 2 weeks. It does absolutely nothing for pain. It is totally useless. I don't recommend that anybody use this medication. I don't believe that there is much medication to give the kind of pain relief for someone in chronic pain like me.

Teva’s patch completely sucks. It will not stay on your body anywhere. Also, their drug part itself stay away from skin and is crusty. This is a waste of money. And living in pain until the next month as I will have to get the name brand that stays on. This is garbage. But if I could review the actual name brand of Butrans. Then yes. It really does help with pain.

I am grateful to all other patients who have documented their experiences with the Teva Butrans patch. My experience has been identical. I have attempted all the same methods of trying to adhere the patch to my skin (tegaderms, medical tape, tincture of benzoine), all to no avail. I shared my experience with the ordering physician and was treated as though I had drug seeking behavior when asking to discontinue the patch for buprenorphine buccal patches. At least they work. I tried to work with the pharmacy but again they stated the same concern, the better brand was several hundred dollars more. I ask practitioners to not ignore their patientsâ?? concerns about this Teva patch and ask pharmacies work with their patients to come up with the best options. This patch needs to be taken off the market. I even tried showering less just so the patch did not fall off immediately and that is not preferred hygiene during a global pandemic. My next step is reaching out to the FDA.Read More Read Less

Every Generic bandaid I’ve ever used has had Way better adhesive strength than Teva’s Buprenorphine patches. I’ve used pain patches for many years, never having any Negative issues with them, until Teva produced a generic Buprenorphine “Butrans” patch. Teva reps try to tell me how to place the patch correctly, HMMMM, I’ve already taken EVERY precaution when placing my Buprenorphine patch on my body. I do not use any form of lotions or creams anywhere near my patch so that can not be the blame. I also change the patch placement locations often, and to no avail the patch falls off by the end of the day, faster yet if I sweat. Oh! I’ve been told to put a Tegaderm over the patch to keep it in place, it definitely does NOT work, the pain patch ends up sticking to the Tegaderm and not to my skin. I’m constantly feeling withdrawals from TEVA’s patches. Most pharmacies use Teva patches for the lower cost. I wish the Rhodes brand Patch was easier to locate, this patch is fabulous, i myself, and others I know who also use the pain patch all agree with everything I’ve said, they just don’t the have time to do anything about it. Thumbs down ???? for Teva’s pain patch, a HUGE thumbs up ???? for Rhodes Pain patches. Read More Read Less

TEVA brand is TERRIBLE! Sticks for 2 days, if you sweat or shower it lasts one. Complained to company and pharmacy....nothings been done!! And why should I buy more stuff to keep it on when I’m already paying $$$$ for the patch!! Rhodes manufacturer’s is best if you can get pharmacy to order

Horrible patch that does not stick and gets soaking wet in the shower unlike other patches I have used. It lasts about 2 days instead of 7. Total waste of money and effectiveness! This patch should not be for sale!

The Rhodes brand works the best. Teva brand falls off. Spray flonase on skin prior to applying patch, i use a blow drier to dry the flonase the put patch on. This will stop the rash. Love the results just have to fight insurance to pay and pharmacy to get the right brand.

The Butrans patch 10mcg allowed me to completely stop taking Tramadol after 3 years of 300mg per day for chronic back and arm pain. It offers around the clock relief...I wake up feeling good, no need to immediately take pain pills. HOWEVER the patch does not stick well, comes off in the shower, and has to be secured by day 4 with a larger clear band-aid...which still doesn't stick well. I would be OK with all of that except it has triggered my childhood allergy to medical adhesive and was leaving my skin with red, oozing blisters under the patch that itched like crazy. It was pure torture, and since it's an allergy, was only getting worse by the week. My doctor suggested to spray Flonase on my skin before I put on a new patch, and also on the patch, as soon as it started itching. I used a whole bottle of Flonase last week and still had oozing blisters that were leaking out from under the patch and onto my camisole. I finally said enough! And demanded the oral buccal film. Even with great insurance the copay is $125 however they give you a coupon and anyways it's worth it not to be in agony itching Read More Read Less

This generic patch does not stick it is a horrible waste of money and time I feel I am being ripped off by the drug company itâ??s dicks no more than two days if Iâ??m lucky then the rest of the time I cannot get my medication, This patch is supposed to last for seven days, He causes drug withdrawal and any effective medication usage the Butrans patch is an extremely higher quality patch also the rubber or whatever they use to make the patch causes me to itch really bad compared to the Butrans transdermal systemRead More Read Less

Keeps falling off. It is very expensive and since you cannot re-use it once it falls off and it costs a fortune. It also causes a rash

Patches fall off, do not stay on therefore making treatment ineffective. Awful product.

Iâ??ve been on the Butrans patch for years. It gave me my life back and allowed me to work again. I had to switch to the generic. TEVA buprenorphine patches are horrible. I did not have a rash, probably bc the patch wasnâ??t sticking to enough skin. It was peeling within 6 hours and buckled and off by 12. I tried taping it down with medical tape. Somehow, it managed to buckle under the medical tape. I was not receiving any pain relief. My pain increased each day, and by the end of the month it was extremely excruciating. I couldnâ??t work, sleep or function. I had to use my hydrocodone pills, which I try to rarely use, around the clock. Iâ??m so frustrated. This should be taken off the market. I actually contacted the company, and I never do that sort of thing. Stay away. Send letters. Force a chamge! Read More Read Less

The name brand has good adhesion to the skin. At the first of the year, my insurance company switched pharmacies and drugs. The generic by TEVA was more profitable but for the patient, they do not stay on, and even with the Flonase the patch produces a horrible raised inflamed rash. Since the patch does not adhere well, hot water gets into and under the patch on your skin and not starts but produces the rash. Then of course, your skin starts rejecting the patch because of the constant pain from the patch area and the constant burning and itching from the site. The packaging you cannot open using the diagram on the package. If you cut along the line shown, the package still will not open. Using the generic patch causes more problems just making your pain more frustrating, not to mention you waste your money. Have gotten an exception from my insurance company for name brand but at least it will be worth the extra money. Yes, this generic is not equivalent at all to the name brand medicine and is in my opinion, harmful to the patient. Read More Read Less

Been on the Butrans patch for 5 years and was recently switched to generic by insurance company. This product is not even close to the Butrans. Had welts at the patch site. After three months still have discoloring of skin. Had sudden onset of dizziness. And this patch gave NO pain relief. I was forced to call the doctors office and get a new prescription for the Butrans patch. Now having to pay a copay for a medication that was being paid in full. This generic brand does not meet the standards of the brand name and should be removed. Read More Read Less

This generic is totally ineffective! Been on a Butrans patch for 6 yrs with never a problem. Insurance is requiring to go to generic or pay 150 for a 4 wk supply. Can't easily open pkg, have to cut and guess and pray u dont cut the patch. The adhesive doesnt keep, and 2 days later u r placing a large bandaid over it, and it is not adhering to skin. Provides no relief. Worthless!!
