I have been on Butrans for about 6 weeks now starting at 5mcg every 7days and increasing once a week up to 15mcg. I have just been increased to 30mcg to try to control my pain levels. I find it works great but wasnt quite enough for me without still having to take my breakthrough meds every 4 hrs that is the reason for the increase so here's hoping that the increase helps. the tape sticks great bu...

My comments and star rating concerns the generic patch by TEVA. I have been on Butrans for 3-5 years. For itching, when I first started the drug, I went to the manufacturer's website and found the tip to use Flonase under the patch when you first put it on. The name brand stays on, and the Flonase breaks the rash cycle that hot water on the patch starts. The name brand has good adhesion to the sk...

The Product: Amneal Butrans patch. The Issue: Causing skin issues similar to chemical burns. Hope: The idea is good, however, it needs improvement. The skin appears/simular to look like a really bad sunburn with skin tears. I hope the drug companies can figure out which additive, adhesive is causing the chemical reaction causing the major skin irritation, because it helps relieve pain, but the issues can be improved.

They gave a Teva patch of buprenorphine and it does NOT WORK N IT DOES NOT STAY ON! I’m very unhappy with the Teva buprennorphine patches n I’ve complained to the company to the doctor n to the pharmacist n they want me to buy something to keep it on! I’ve tried everything I know to keep it on but I’m beginning to believe this patch DOES NOT WORK AT ALL! I still hurt bad n I’m having trouble walking or sitting! The pounding in my ears is horrific n I’m still in pain n not able to do what I need too at all ! I feel bad all the time This is totally unreal! This is my third weeks using the patch that will not stay on; without bathing which is ridiculous ; no matter where you put it IT WILL NOT STAY ON N I FIGURE THAT IS THE REASON IT DOES NOT WORK! I’m only on 5mg/hr but it is too hard to keep it on! I called the company and told them there is a defect in the patch as to why it won’t stay on and Teva said they would get back to me on that! I’m still waiting for the medication to work! Of course it has not worked yet! It is very scary because of the pounding in my ears all the time! I only have one kidney n my urine has become putrid but according to the company that is normal???? I asked if it will damage my kidney n I got no answer yet! If any of y’all know the answer please let me know! Read More Read Less

I was on morphine and the FDA and DEA decided that I don't really need relief from pain so now I take these (almost) completely useless patches. First, they don't stop you from going through withdrawals. I've been sick for weeks. Second, you only get 1 patch per week but after 3 days they peel off. I've been using every kind of medical tape I can find to tape them back on. It seems to me that if the FDA/DEA really cared about people overdosing then maybe they should focus on fentanyl coming into the country and the over 100,000 people who die each year from fentanyl overdoses. Instead, the only thing they can control are the doctors and pharmacies and even the pharmaceutical wholesalers to prevent people with chronic pain from getting any relief. They care so much how they look but they don't really care about you at all. If your doctor is prescribing this patch to get you off of another pain medicine good luck because you're going to need it. Read More Read Less

Butrans 5mcg Only on my third week. But this stuff's gonna kill me. I am so dizzy and so tired. I was already tired from multiple sclerosis. But this is ridiculous! I am ambulatory and never had trouble walking. All of a sudden I'm walking like I'm intoxicated. I could live with dry mouth But I just fell in my own house Spraining and ankle and I swear it's from this medication. I used to take hydrocodone in low doses with NO "dependency" Suddenly my physicians refuse to prescribe Hydrocodone hence the patch I resent the lack of control. With a pill I could take as needed and I never abused. This thing is on 24/7 and does little for pain In my case.Read More Read Less

This patch is way too strong for me. Woke up with nausea, dry heaves and skyrocketing blood pressure. I called an ambulance and spent the day in the ER. NOW, please note I am a small woman, 4'7 and 80lbs. I think that had everything to do with my issues. Just please note size might be an issue with this patch.

I literally have had a broken neck for the past six months which was caused from a muscle relaxer. The doctors gave me for having herniated discs and pinched nerves instead of giving me a pain pill that has worked previously in the past mind you I have not had one since 2021, but the muscle relaxer had me faint.. crack my jaw open I needed to get 12 stitches and I thought that was the worst of it and then they said don’t move you could be paralyzed. They rushed me to the city Einstein hospital and told me I had a broken neck and not to worry I would have the neck brace off in about 4 to 6 weeks …not the freaking case at all … it is now six months later I am scheduled for surgery next month, and literally have jumped through hoops to get some pain relief from the doctors because you literally have to be missing a limb to get any help these days… Ugg so this pain management doctor that my surgeon referred me to started me on this patch. Needless to say, he told me nothing about it whatsoever but I did my due diligence and re-searched online and literally got a little petrified because it said you can’t get a bath, you can’t get in the Jacuzzi you can’t be in direct sunlight stop drinking or you can die pretty much so disgusted that my pain management doctor did not even review any of that with me. Thankfully, I educated myself because I used to get baths all the time so I probably could’ve died, needless to say I was thinking well hell this is got to be a strong patch and I am happy yet a little scared but happy if this will help me and it is now going on two weeks and an increase of dosage up to 15 and I literally have not one bit of pain relief from it My mind is blown. I am completely disgusted. I don’t even care to have him increase it to 20 because what’s the point I should be feeling some sort of relief. The pharmacist said so the pharmacist said I should ask my doctor for oxycodone since I am not a junkie I haven’t taken anything for pain since 2021 and I’m looking at surgery and I’m in excruciating pain and laying on ice blocks 10 to 14 hours a day to the point I get freezer burn but I still do it because it’s the only thing that helps me through this pain. I literally hate doctors and cannot believe that they can call them self pain management doctors when they literally have done not one damn thing to help me manage my freaking pain from hell so that’s my story. I guess I’m stuck to ice and till I get surgery because not a doctor gives a shit to really truly help me and I just don’t know what else to do but scream and cry, and even still that’s not gonna fix it . I noticed that that when the outside packaging changed, the patch, which I had trouble getting off the plastic wrapper, did nothing for the pain. Nothing! I mentioned that fact to my provider and he suggested that I was becoming addicted. I assured him that wasn't so, that the patches just didn't work since the outside packaging had changed. I also noticed that the patches seemed to not stay on after a shower. Today I put a patch on since the patch I'd had on was just hanging by a thread after taking a shower night before last. The new patch has made me shaky, and short of breath. It seems to be more effective for pain but I had to take the patch off because it has made me feel strange. What is wrong with patches from this company? Read More Read Less

The drug store substituted Amneal brand when they couldn’t get my regular brand Rhodes. Amneal was much stronger, seemed like twice as strong. Almost went to Norcan but glad I didn’t as I have since learned it would have had no effect. The adhesive was way too strong as well. I returned the 3 unused patches to the pharmacy only to find out that there is no refund. If the patch would have fallen off (not stuck at all) I would have been able to receive a refund from the manufacture. Crazy rules. Read More Read Less

I wanted to get of the oral opiod because I felt that I was starting to have an addiction...after about a week to detox...I told my Dr that I absolutely did not want any more opiods by mouth (i'm 50 not wanting to be an addict) I feel these patches do work...I don't believe I get quite the same relief but I say 6 months using the patch and I am a believer. I started at a 5mg now Im up to 15 and really I feel pretty darn good!

I had an automobile accident as to where my spinal cord was damaged at theC-3,C-4, C-5 and C-6 level. I have had 2 major spinal surgeries and 1 major shoulder surgery. My legs, hands, feet, and arms stay numb and cold due to my injuries. My doctor put me on the Buprenorphine 5mcg and nothing as far as pain relief. So, the doctor up me to the 7.5mcg, and I am still not getting any relief what so ever. I have been very disappointed with this patch because I have not had any signs of relief from them. My doctor called in me a prescription for the 10mcg but, I am unable to afford it because the cost is over $70 for the 4 patch’s. Read More Read Less

The suboxone patch has been totally ineffective for my severe chronic pain. Extremely disappointed and frustrated. I like the idea and ease of a patch that was supposed to provide more constant relief but it’s not effective.

The patch has been a life saver for me. Back surgery helped but still had chronic pain and my dr recommended Butrans. Started with a 10 mmg patch then worked down to a 5mmg patch but had breakthrough pain. They came out with a 7.5mmg patch and that was the sweet spot. Unfortunately my prescription plan moved me to generics when they came out but it was still good until my Pharmacy ordered TEVA brand. I have had a number of these patches come up short of a weeks dose with withdrawal setting in. Am in the process of trying to rectify this at least to get on another brand of generic patches.Read More Read Less

in 1997,I was 58 yrs old..I was hit by a City bus while crossing the street. I flew thru the air, Landed prone in the street..when I voice said TURN AOUND..I saw.the bus was just ready to run over my legs! I rolled out of the way of the wheels..the bus kept going. It was actually a miracle I wasn’t injured worse..I had soft tissue damage..and I got well. Things were fine until around 2010..when my lower back started to hurt again..2019 I was in pain (I am 76 yrs old now.have arthritis ).I found a pain Dr, X-rays show my left side spine is crushed..I have been on pain pills since then, and they work..but not as well as before. CA law allows 6pills a day..soo my PAIN Dr gave me The Patch,to try. this AM I slapped one on my arm. And waited..IT WAS HORRIBLE!! I was SOOO stoned! I do not drink, or take recreational drugs. Just the Norco, as prescribed..BUT THIS PATCH?? Omg it was HORRIBLE! I was staggering around, my brain was SOOO fuzzy..for 4 hours I TRIED to wear it..I have NEVER experienced ANYTHING like this! (And I survived the 60’s) I ripped the patch off, and took a nap..felt ok when I woke up. WHAT IS IN THESE THINGS? I get my Norco tomorrow..but I have nothing till then. I am considering putting another patch on tonite, to sleep.I was Ok when I woke up, maybe it will b ok just at night, till I get my regular meds.Any comments? Seriously, I was HORRIFIED at the way I felt..couldn’t even WALK straight, but I am in ALOT of pain now..took Advil and aspirin..what is IN these Buprenorphine patches??? YUCK! Do you think I should try taking another one?Read More Read Less

It takes 3 days for it to begin being absorbed. At first it helped by allowing me to not have to chase the pain. I take Percocet but i was having breakthrough pain. The patch i take is 7.5mg but i really think anything less than 20mcg/hr is very ineffective treatment. I will continue using these patches for this month but i prob wont continue. Also one patch (get 4 per box) is approx. $25 per patch with insurance.

I've been on Buprenorphine for 5 months due to the fact I can't take any thing by mouth for pain. I started at 7 then went to 10. Could not tell the difference in my pain. I did feel confused, wobbly on my feet and wanted to sleep all the time. Decided I would quit cold turkey. This is my 7th day and it has been a rough week. Can't imagine if I had been on them for a long time what the effects of quitting would be. The side effects of Buprenorphine and the cost is not worth it. I'll use a rub on my knees and legs. Bengay or frezone works for a short time at least. Read More Read Less

After 3 months of waiting, I finally received 4 patches. It took 2 days to start working. I am disappointed with the level of pain relief. I seam to be having mental difficulty, forgetfulness, dizzy, difficult walking, unstable legs, GI issues, excess heart problems. I have taken generic Rx pain pills, that worked much better w/o the side effects this creates. Not worth the time, money or results involved.

I use the butrans 15mcg patches from Amneal. I have osteogenesis imperfecta type 1. I broke my L5S1 at 13 and because of a leg break at 4 one leg is a little shorter causing SI joint dysfunction. I also have scoliosis in my upper spine and fibromyalgia. It wasn’t until I was 19 that the chronic pain became severe and I tried everything for over a decade. Vicodin, Percocet, Morphine, Oxycodone, Suboxone, Gabapentin and various muscle relaxers. Currently though for pain I am on the 15mcg patch, Gabapentin and Flexeril. Let me just say, this patch has changed my life. At first it didn’t seem to be working great, I rapidly had my doctor taper me up to 20mcg. After a month I wasn’t completely satisfied but I kind of had to stay on it. The reason I started it was because they gave me a random pill count and found my oxycodone was short. Tbh the oxycodone wasn’t even helping my pain enough it just made me feel doped up. So I had no choice but to stay on the patch. But then after the first month things started changing, I noticed my average pain number was consistently getting lower. The longer i was on the patch the lower my daily pain number was. Eventually I told my doctor I was amazed at how much mobility I had gained and how even though my pain was still a 3-4 on most days, it was NOT a 7-8 daily and that makes a huge difference in my life. I’ve been on the patch for 2 years now and recently managed to drop from 20mcg to 15 mcg. My pain is a little more noticeable but still totally within my tolerant range. (I might want to be trying for a baby in the next few years and want to get off as many meds as possible or at least get the dosages as low as possible in case I become pregnant and need to get off them) I firmly believe now there is no medication that can completely remove your pain but this one has turned the volume WAY down. I think we think normal people walk around pain free but this isn’t true. Normal people have pain on a daily basis too it’s just not a 5+ kind of pain. With this patch my pain ranges from 0-4 regularly and I’m so so so happy with that. Sure, in the winter some days I can be having a 6-8day and that’s not good but it’s usually only during bad weather and alternative meds like Tylenol/ibuprofen/naproxen or heat/ice and lidocaine patches can be super helpful during those flare ups… but my condition is life long and I know a degree of pain is going to be normal for me. I just have to be extra kind to myself on the bad days. I’ve lost 40lbs due to my increased ability to walk the past couple years and it’s still dropping at a healthy pace. Without this medicine I don’t think I’d be here today. I was really losing hope. I don’t think I have tried to TEVA patches but the Amneal ones stick wonderfully and if I sweat or it gets lose I use tough strip bandaids over it. Those clear film patches some people mentioned they use to keep it on cause my skin a bad reaction and sometimes rip my skin off when I try to remove it so I don’t even bother with them anymore. Tough strip bandaids are where it’s at for me, plus then People can’t see that it’s a pain patch lol. Anyway just wanted to share my personal experience. I suggest it to friends with chronic pain now eagerly but I always warn them that it takes a few months to really get the reasonable relief from the medicine. That transition period can be especially hard if you had to detox first. My pain in the first month was absolutely miserable and I cried a lot. Once my body stopped being in withdraw mode and pitching a fit I could finally recognize that it was doing something. The longer I use it the better it gets and I forget I have pain sometimes. At least until I’m in bed trying to sleep or after being very active. During those times lidocaine patches seem to work best. I do wonder if the Gabapentin is why I’m having such a good response to it when others seem to hate it. I took Gabapentin on its own for years and it absolutely helped… it just wasn’t enough to Read More Read Less

Non-effective.. after one month I told the PA it doesn't work, she said we'll try it another month.... 3 months later... I had no refills so I just waited, It's beens 2 weeks the pain is the same as when I was wearing the patch. I have been in absolutely horrible pain for the entire 3 .5 months, this has not changed the level of pain I have lived with for the last 2 you ears. What a joke.
