I'm suffering from DDD, Scoliosis, Shoulder Injury x 2 and neuropathic pain for 10 years (since age 21). Over the years, I've been prescribed Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Codeine, Tramadol, Neurontin,Lyrica.....and finally something that works, the BUTRANS patch. Wow, I actually have control of my life again! My pain level went from an (8) pre-patch to about a (3) post-patch. I apply a new patch ...

Was on medication for two weeks. Started at 10mcg, then 20mcg. the pain relief was OUTSTANDING. Better than anything else I've tried. However, the sedation, constipation, and nausea associated w/ this med was far greater than other opioid meds and was too much to bear and have been switched to Nucynta ER, which has less side effects, but less pain relief as well. If you can deal w/ the side effects, I HIGHLY recommend this medication.

I first started with the 5 mcg's. Then they bumped me up to the 10 mcg patch. It worked for about 2 weeks, but started getting itchy around patch site. Especially when I overheated. I removed the last patch and had severe scaly, blistery like skin. The arm itself was swollen. It's been 2 weeks now since removal, still itchy and arm is sore. Looks like a chemical burn and will probably leave a scar. Wouldn't reccommend!

Had been taking 6-8 Norco per day for many years to combat chronic low back pain. A new doc switched me to Butrans 5 months ago - first at the 5, then upped to the 10. Thanks doc!!! This patch has been a godsend - excellent pain relief with few side effects. The long-term nature of the medicine finally lets me sleep through the night (previously would wake when Norco wore off). I still take 1-2 Norco per day for breakthrough pain - I take half-pills at a time - but the patch has made a huge difference and neither doc or I think it is worth changing to the 20. Have seen lots of information about this making other opioids less effective but I will say for me it works well in conjunction with the Norco. Only side effect has been sleepiness, which the Norco gave me anyway. The difference is that the sleepiness is more constant since this medicine delivery is more constant, but the good FAR outweighs the bad. Butrans gets "Two thumbs up" from me!Read More Read Less

I just started the 20mcg patch today after trying the 10mcg for 2 months. I am trying to get off Lyrica, and it is causing a lot of very serious side effects. I have fibromyalgia and arthritis. I have high hopes the doubling of mcgs!

I love the Butrans Patch (5mcg). I have been on everything from T3 to Dilaudid trying to control my pain (cancer diagnosis, chronic back pain, fibromyalgia). I could only take these meds at night or I was in a fog at work. With Butrans, I am able to get relief 24hrs/day, w/out the fog - My mind is very clear. Had a little N&V in the beginning, but has gone away. Every once in awhile I get some BTP, but it is very rare. I would recommend this patch to anyone that asks.

Was taking 2 15mg OxyCodone per day for 1 year. Felt like I was in a fog and wanted off that stuff so I tapered to 1/2 per day and switched to 10mcg Butrans. What a difference...mind is clear, no more lower back pain after 10+ years, no more thinking about the next pill, no feeling of dependency. I'm on day 5 of the 1st patch and felt relief on day 2. Let's hope it continues to work well.

I am on the 10mg patch and it works wonderfully for my fibro myalgia muscle pain. It does help with the arthritis, but not as well as I had hoped.

It helped my sciatic pain in my legs at 10mg, but it makes me so nausea and I have no energy at all. all I want to do is sleep. i have tried 5-20mg, trying to find a correct dose. i have had 5 back surgeries and will have shoulder surgery next month. The patch is easy, but I suppose it isn't for everyone.

I have been using the medication for three months and it does help some, not completely for arthritis and sciatic pain. I feel the patch lasts only 6 days.

I am on 10mcg for 3 weeks now. I think it begins to work the 3rd day thru 5th and drops off. My hands, feet, bones, still ache constantly. I do think I sleep better at night. Is 20mcg better?

I have been taking another pain medication for chronic low back pain due to a motorcycle accident I had about 8 years ago. I used to take pain medication occassionaly until about 2 yrs ago, I started needing pain medication everday. Finally my Dr put me on Butran's patch and after about a week of having the patch on I started feeling normal again. I could actually go for the whole day an not think about the pain at all. So, far I have not experienced any side effects from this medication and I have been taking it for about 2 1/2 months. So, far I am very happy with The Butran's PatchRead More Read Less

First off, I LOVE this patch because for the first time since my lower back injury in 2007, I feel like me! I am 26 years old and I started this patch on Sunday (it's currently Friday) I was prescribed this since T3s, norco, and nucynta were no longer working and/or started to disagree with me. I was able to clean my house... Without feeling groggy, horrible pain or getting grouchy. I do have to take about 1 T3 a day for breakthrough pain, but it's a huge difference from prior to the patch Buuuuuut.... Ever since Tuesday (maybe it was Wednesday) have been experiencing pain in my hands, a pretty bad pain with slight weakness... Only in my hands. I wake up with them feeling the worst, yesterday I could only make a half fist... I made an appt with my dr for Monday, I'm going to try and keep the patch on until then (the pharmacy said remove the patch if the hand pain becomes bothersome... The back pain for me is too intense without the patch) Has anyone else had similar symptoms?Read More Read Less

I have a sensitivity to Latex and the patch makes the site extremely itchy. I have tried using an inhaler sprayed on the site before placing the patch but most weeks it doesn't work and often tear off the patch because of extreme itchiness/pain. Any latex free patches for the future? Any other similar cases?
