I've been on this med for almost a year, after having a heart attack and having to stents put in. I've had no side affects other that easily bruising and if I cut myself it takes awhile to stop. I went back to a 30 minute cardio workout 5 days after surgery.

Following an acute heart attack last Thanksgiving morning 2016, I was given Brilinta 90mg twice a day in the hospital. Immediately I began having severe GI symptoms... Stomach pain, belching, and diarrhea. Not until I returned home did the symptoms become worse and due to the epigastric symptoms and severe heartburn I ended up in the Emergency Room 4 times. I thought I was having another heart attack due to chest pain, which was only severe heart burn. My physician informed me this was not due to any medication I was taking. Last month he stopped the Brilinta ( 6 month follow-up ) and my symptoms have gone away. I suffered for all those months with sleepless nights, anxiety and fear that could have been avoided if I was only given another blood thinner. If you have any of these symptoms please make sure your Doctor knows about these side effects.Read More Read Less

Had stent placed om 3/10. First day noticed shortness of breath, rapid heart beat and feeling of weakness while walking short distance in hospital while waiting for my ride home. Same thing 2nd day while walking in store to get perscription filled. As l am a daily walker on 3rd day decided to push myself through this and walk in a mall which l considered safe because of all the people. The extreme shoetness of breath, roaring heart beat and extreme weakness was very frightening. Ended up back in hospital for 2 nights where they did tests and another angioplasty to make sure stent had not collapsed. Everything was OK. On 5th day of stent, while still in hospital l was able to walk 1 1/2 miles and have gotten better every day. The fatigue and weakness were the hardest to deal with. On day 37 l was back: walking 4 to 6 miles 4 to 5 days a week plus normal other activifies. Sometimes l feel a bit of the shortness of breath when l start moving. I find if l slow dowm for just a short period, it stops immediately. The best part is that the weakness just stopped on day 37 and l feel like l used be be. Unlimed energy. I still have an upper torso rash and not sleeping as well but l feel those things will improve.Read More Read Less

Had heart attack 1/30/17, 2 stents placed. Started Brillinta same day. Caused vomiting, felt like I couldn't get enough air, felt like a panic attack, scared, could not think straight. Was not told by the Dr or nurses about the side effects so I thought I was having a normal panic attack.

I had a heart attack in December 2014. I received 5 stents. 1 blockage at 90% 2 at 80%. I was 54 years old at the time. My doctor prescribed the Brilinta 90 milligrams. I experienced many of the same symptoms, easy bruising lots of bleeding from scratches or cuts. After 18 months my doctor changed me to the Brilinta 60 milligrams. I have experienced less bruising ans less bleeding and have been doing well.

Taking 90 mg 2x a day for 1 year following 2 stents. Causes very heavy menstruation every 2 weeks with large blood clots. Shortness of breath and easy bruising. Doctor just told me to stop taking it because the constant bleeding has caused anemia.

I have been taking Brilinta for 20 months after having a DES stent placed in my LAD. I have had NONE of the side effects that some others have reported. My only frustration is the easy bruising which I don't like, but understand that is a side effect with any similar blood thinning therapy. My only other complaint is I wish it were formulated to be taken just once per day, as I take all other meds at night and sometimes forget the morning dose.

I was scheduled for a heart Cath on Monday, February 29th, 2016. Unfortunately, I received 3 stents in my LAD Artery. I started this medication the following afternoon. My health spiraled seriously on Tuesday to be admitted to the hospital that afternoon, and again on Thursday, I went back to the ER due to high blood pressure, chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness

My husband had stents put in in March 2015. Told to take Brilinta to control possible heart attack/stroke. Husband experienced shortness of breath and uncontrollable nosebleeds. When brought up to heart doctor, doctor said it was the medicine to take and to deal with the side effects. Husband committed suicide less than a year later due to not being able to deal with side effects of drug as this was a person who never had taken drugs on a regular basis before and had nosebleeds that lasted 2-3 hours long.Read More Read Less

Had a stent placed in my LAD for a 99% blockage in November 2015. Taking 90 mg 2x per day, along with an ACE inhibitor, beta blocker, baby aspirin and a statin. Easy to remember every 12 hours. I am experiencing no ill side effects and am back to my pre-procedure activities (bicycling, softball, treadmill, etc). I do get bruises easier but no bleeding issues to speak of.

I kept getting the feeling of suffocation, shortness of breath, but only when I was relaxed. Trying to go to sleep at night was very scary since it would seem like the involuntary muscle movement in the chest for breathing would stop. Switched to Plavix and all OK now.

Got a stent placed at 55 years old, told I must take brinlinta for 1 year, maybe two. I DID NOT have a heart attack so my insurance doesn't cover it. Nose bleeds, after 5 months, starting getting hives/rash, plavix doesn't work on me so Dr. says no choice, quit on my own after 5 months of mild shortness of breath but the hives got unbearable.Doc scared me into starting again, and hives are worse even on the 60mg twice daily.. thinking of quitting again but waiting to hear from Doc. Brilinta does not list hives as a side effect. I'm hoping this hasn't made me allergic to aspirin which is my concern. During the 2 months I quit taking it I took a baby aspirin twice a day. I am afraid to not listen to my Doc but I am still working and look like I have a disease with the welts all over my arms and shoulders. Not sure what to do, have a note into my doc now. My PCP, cardiologist ignores me. Read More Read Less
