I was prescribed this drug approx. 5 years ago. I use it for breakthrough pain. I take morphine SR 30mg q12h for my chronic, severe, pain as a result of breaking my neck and damaging my spinal cord. I had surgery on my foot and and was healing then fell with my walking boot on and badly sprained my ankle. Then I was healing pretty well and I slipped and broke my foot where I had surgery, so now I have aches and pain that pretty much don't go away. I take one at night to relieve the pain and ache so that I can sleep. Works well for me that way.

I have used Vicodin week in and week out for nearly 3 years to manage chronic low back since Spinal Fusion of S1- L4 in 2001, it has allowed me to continue to work and maintain my home and be mildly active. My use of this drug is closely monitored by my physician and must be used responsibly.

It is the only pain relief that does not cause nightmares or bleeding in my stomach. I can go without taking it and I do not feel strange when I do. I have Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis and Lupus. I have been on stronger medication but it all either makes me feel funny or sick.
