Dr. prescribed after 2 1/2 weeks of coughing so badly I'd lose bladder control, couldn't breathe well and had severe chest/back pain. It does work to relieve the cough & chest/back pain but side effects have been multiple-itching, lightheadedness, sleepy, face flushed and bad headaches. I did read that it contained aspartame which I know causes me to have headaches and I knew going into it that I don’t tolerate codeine well (nausea/itching). Still, to be able to sleep without coughing… so worth it. One other thing-- Dr. prescribed 2tsp because of my size even though I told him I usually react strongly to side effects-- hoping to be able to cut back to 1 tsp soon.Read More Read Less

Had a severe hacking cough and congestion for months. Got to the point where couldn't sleep at night. Would cough to the point of gagging and throwing up. No OTC cough syrups or pills worked; either did 2 prescription cough syrups. This cleared up cough in 1 day. Was only taking it once a day at bedtime, but was still feeling groggy all day, but it was worth it to get rid of the cough!

I went to the ER D/T bronchititis. I was coughing so hard I could not breathe. After taking the 1st dose my cough STOPPED. Although due to its thickness it was hard to get it out of the dosing cup, just mixed in a little water and it dosed eaiser. Does make me very sleepy. No way to work taking this med. I'm a home health nurse and drive all day. Had to be off work for a few days while on it. Overall it is excellent for bronchial cough. One other draw back. Makes me too dizzy and upsets my stomach,

I had the worst cough in years, and my cough stopped - literally - as soon as I took i tsp of this cough medicine. Also, my raw sore throat pain dropped immediately, and my congestion and dripping nose improved 75%. No kidding. I'm waiting for something bad to happen , but so far nothing but relief...and a little wooziness.

I would cough so hard that I threw up. Nothing would stop it and I was miserable. This medication is the only one that helped. It stops the coughing right away.

I have a chronic cough caused by allergies and this medicine stops the cough dead in its tracks when nothing else will. It also keeps my head and nose from stopping up and stops the sneezing. It is by far the best thing out there for these conditions. I took ATuss until they took it off the market, it worked equally as well and sure did taste better.

I have used this medicine with bronchitis and had great results. I could actually sleep at night the first time I tried it. My husband used it for the cough associated with the flu and it worked great. In my opinion it is the best on the market. We only ever use it when we have severe coughing colds or flu.

Well, the medicine did taste pretty good, but it didn't even seem to touch my cough. I still hacked through the first night. I'm hoping its effects are accumulative and that tonight will be better. I was really hoping it would stop my cough in its tracks, but it didn't. I am a bit drowsy, but that's not nearly as annoying as the cough.

My presciption insurance did not cover this medication but after reading how well it worked I gave it a try and paid out of pocket. I am so glad I did, the coughing stopped immediately. Before I took it, I took 2 tylenol. I am so pleased I wanted to post this before I pass out and have the best sleep I have had in days!!!!!!!!

Yes, this medicine stopped my horrific cough IMMEDIATELY...however, it gave me such a horrendous pitch-fork headache...for 2 days....the pain was unreal. I only took 1 dose of this medicine....1 teaspoon....the headache came on gradually & kept increasing in intensity....till my head felt like it was going to explode. The print-out says it causes intracranial pressure & headache, but man alive, this was one HORRIFIC headache. It also spiked my blood pressure. Yes, it did take care of the cough ok, and quickly, but I think I'd rather have my cough than feel like my gray matter was being spued all over the place. At first when I took this medicine, it took a little bit to "kick in." I felt itchy about 1 hr after taking it. I never did cough while sleeping and I think it was effective.

When 2 bottles of phenegren and codeine didn't work, my dr. prescribed this tussionex for my horrific cold-related cough. I hate the taste of it, but it seems to REALLY work...and FAST. I'm getting a bit itchy from it, but I don't care so long as my painful coughing will stop so that I can get some sleep. I hope it works on congestion, too, but other reviewers said it didn't. It definitely stopped the coughing but totally wiped me out. After my third night of taking it, all I want to do is go to sleep right now. Definitely makes it harder to work the next day.

This stuff works great but it wears off before 12 hours and I have to alternate between medicines. It last maybe 4 to 5 hours on me and does nothing for stuffy noses.

Got very lightheaded and tired; couldn't use it and work; too tired; sluggish. Going to bed after taking is great! No more cough.

I use this for allergy throat and cough. It's great if you wake up all night, clearing my throat, as I did. Still use Flonais for day. After awhile the side effects aren't as bad, It's been a few months for me. Be real careful to only take every 12 hours and not more than prescribed. My Dr. warns it can be addicting!

Made me very drowsy so I only took 1 tsp before bed. This is the absolute best cough stopper!

Worked very well on my cough. Started feeling better within 24 hours.
