After trying numerous medications and even being subjected to an upper GI scope to check for cancer due to persistent severe symptoms, I was finally prescribed Protonix. I noticed some relief right away, and over a short time, my symptoms disappeared completely. Now, if I have a flare-up, its because I consumed too much caffeine and forgot to take my Protonix!

Having taken acid inhibitors for nearly 20 yrs, this one is the best. I have reflux and bring up various bits of food from my stomach. Once upon a time, that included acid. Nothing other than surgery will fix that, but no acid and no side effects is great. I do wish my insurance hadnt removed it from their formulary. Nexium/Prilosec works ok but had lots of side effects. But insurance will pay for that. Go figure.

In most cases this medication has done well I do occassionally have to use Gaviscon extra strength. about 4 times a month. Otherwise Medcation works great.

I have acid reflux tried Prevacid and prescription strength Prilosec nothing worked until I was put on Protonix. I have no complaints or noticable side effects.
