I just wanted to write a positive review because everyone's were so negative and i was afraid to start taking this after reading about it. i didn't gain any weight, my boobs got a little bigger, and my skin stayed as clear as it always had been. i still get slight period cramps but overall its SO much lighter and only lasts 3 days which is awesome. i would definitely recommend :) don't be scared o...

My experience taking Aviane was horrible. It worked for preventing pregnancy, but included me gaining 30 lbs over a 30 day period, grotesque looking stretch marks, (i'm 20 yrs. old and can no longer wear tank tops) breathing problems, muscle pain and cramps, severe fatigue, vaginal swelling so intense intercourse was impossible, mood swings, and worst of all a doctor that wouldn't acknowledge that...

I've been taking aviane for about 10 days now, and i have to say it is quite wonderful, the only side effect that I have had so far is an increase in breast size which is quite wonderful actually. No weight gain, no acne, about the same sex drive. All in all this is a wonderful birth control.

I began taking Aviane in January and it is now October, so for between 9 and 10 months now. As for the positive, I'm not pregnant (I do take the pill every day within the same hour)! It has helped slightly with acne (I used to have mild-moderate acne) in that it usually goes away for a month or two then comes back for about three weeks surrounding the week of my period. I had spotting for the first month on Aviane; however, my period started on a Sunday, so I took my first pill that same day, causing the bleeding to just be prolonged throughout that entire cycle. I then missed my period during the actual placebo week, started my next period a few days early, but following that, have been completely regular (I generally start on a Tuesday, sometimes Wednesday). My periods feel a decent amount less painful than they were pre-birth control. I've noticed I perhaps have more intense PMS now than I did before... I become upset/weepy. I still do seem to get pre-"menstrual" back aches, as I did before getting on the pill. My one major complaint is the nausea. Granted, I did struggle with frequent nausea for years before starting birth control. I do feel like the pill has worsened it, though. The nausea is usually worst at night (which is when I take my pills). I have considered switching pills to lessen my nausea an perhaps help more with my skin. Still debating! I am not unhappy with Aviane. I just could be happiER. As an added note, using a phone alarm really aids ease of use... as soon as the alarm goes off, I take my pill!Read More Read Less

I've been taking aviane for two years now. I have not had any problems with this pill and overall, I'm quite happy with it. But, I have not experienced lighter periods or less cramping.. I'm not sure if that's normal.. anyway, other than that aviane has been pretty good!

This was my first time on birth control. I had always chosen not to take it because of the health risks that can come along with it but being in a new relationship, I wanted to be safe. I started taking this and it made me feel irritable, tired, and gave me acne. My skin was completely clear before taking this medication and this morning I threw this junk in the trash. My boyfriend and I decided that we'll be more aware of my body and ovulation cycle and not have sex during that time. I think there are other ways to prevent pregnancy other than birth control. Condoms and knowing your body is just as effective in my opinion. I just can't put this crap in my body anymore. Hated it.Read More Read Less

Aviane (Brand Name: Alesse, Lutera, Sronyx etc.) while on this birth control for 4 years my period was light, came on the same day every month, reduced my cramping and acne... very good for the most part. I ended up recently looking at other options and stopped taking Avaine. The main reason being no matter how hard I worked out and trained, and ate healthy I felt I could not gain muscle and get rid of arm, belly, and love handle fat. 3 months off the pill my arm, belly, and love handle fat is gone! While researching to see if others had this issue I stumbled upon a 2009 study " birth control pills can limit muscle gain". In this study the women on birth control with high-androgenic progestins obtained only a .50% muscle gain in comparison to women not on the pill or on a low-androgenic progestin birth control. More searching and found the androgenicity of many birth controls... Aviane (brand name: Alesse) is a high-androgenic birth control using levongestrel 0.1mg. This would explain my issues of obtaining muscle through daily exercise and inability to lose tummy, arm, love handle fat. So if being active and staying in shape is a priority perhaps look into a different method of birth control or a low androgenic birth control pill, because I believe there is something to this study. It worked for me at first but then I got pregnant. I didn't miss a pill and I can't find a single reason why this happened.

I have been on Aviane for 6 months to prevent pregnancy, which has worked. But I can't take the side effects... terrible moodiness, depression, absolutely NO SEX DRIVE, cramping. I've been on several pills and this one has been the worst for me. I thought being a low dose pill the side effects wouldn't be as bad.. totally wrong. I can't be on this pill anymore.

I've been on birthcontrol for about 8 years, avaine in particular for about 4 I would say. About 9 Months ago I had a seizure for the first time in my life in my sleep. Got tests done, went to many doctors and they found no cause for the seizure. The night I had the seizure I had eaten a grapefruit and had taken my birthcontrol pill. I have asked my doctors if this would have anything to do with the seizure and they looked at me like I was crazy. there are many drugs that interact with grapefruit. And there is proof on this website that you should not mix aviane and grapefruit. It states " Avoid eating grapefruit while on this drug." Now does any body else have a similar situation as I do? I just feel if they tell you to avoid grapefruit while on this drug, they should take it into consideration that this could have been a trigger to the seizure. I want to let this be known. And if anyone has had a similar situation let it be known! There could be a serious risk with taking this drug and grapefruit together that just is not known to the public. They are finding out more and more medications that interact with grapefruit all the time! Read More Read Less

At the beginning of taking Aviane my periods were somewhat irregular, I used to have extreme cramps to the point of vomiting repeatedly and diarrhoea but after taking the medication my cramps got reduced to just discomfort. However for the past 4 months of taking Aviane, despite taking it at the exact same time every day, I've been having breakthrough bleeding mid-second week of the package for 3 days and then two weeks after, my actual period. It feels exactly like having two periods per month which is extremely annoying. Read More Read Less

Been on it for over a year now. I felt more evened out. It did wonders for my period flow. I barely even notice I am having a period. They come at the same time each month as well. I sometimes have some cramping and headaches before I am about to start, or while I am on it. That is to be expected.

I have been taking Aviane for over five years and absolutely love it. It has been 100% effective and has resulted in shorter, lighter periods that always come on the same day of the week. I have maintained a normal weight, have had no symptoms of PMS, and my sex drive remains high (so much so that my boyfriend sometimes can't keep up!). I would highly recommend this pill.

I switched to Avian from a different birth control. I didn't notice much of the side effects as I did with other birth controls, but each dose of hormons effects people differently. So far I'm not pregnant.

This may just be me but there are times when I wake up in the morning feeling really nauseous ,this mostly happens if I wake up early. It is really inconvenient because I don't like when it happens because I have to go to school or work. Aside from that it does help me get my periods

I have been on both Avaine and Alesse my doctor tells me theyre both the same? anyway with aviane I feel as though I get more cramps then I do Alesse I dont understand but I would rather be on Alesse because Aviane makes me all moody and I feel stressed, depressed or just really emotional at times.

I have been taking aviane for 2 and a half years now. I love it. I actually lost weight when I started taking it. It regulated my periods, and I only have to have one every 3 months. Which is really nice considering how bad mine used to be. I'd stay home from school they were so bad. I finally got to live a normal life. After I started having sex, I had a period for almost 2 months and my dr had me take a double dose for a month, and I've been great since.

I gained fifteen pounds in a month. I have never experienced cramping or bloating on my period and I had the worst back cramps with aviane. My stomach was bloated, my breasts were sore and my legs would get charlie horses every night. I had spotting every single day I took the pill. I'm now trying Trinessa.

I first started Aviane about four years ago. I've been on BCP for 7 years, just to regulate my cycle. I started on Jolessa for the first year of my marriage, but it was pricey and didn't regulate me at all. I've been back on Aviane for almost 2 months now and my sex drive is almost completely nonexistent. (Maybe I never noticed that before because I wasn't having sex until a year ago?) I've felt more irritable towards people, more easily offended, and the lack of sex drive is really depressing. Read More Read Less

I am on the third week of my second month of this pill. I switched because I was on Beyaz and it gave me all the side effects of being pregnant and heavy menstrual flow. I did not have any side effects during the first month but did not get my period. Tested for pregnancy and they came back negative. Started the 2nd pack and have started to have side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and breakthrough bleeding, and an increase in acne. If I don't get my period I will test for pregnancy again so I am not sure how to say whether it is effective or not. Not sure if I would recommend this type because of the mixed messages my body is getting with this hormone level or combination. Read More Read Less

aviane was the worst experiance i have ever had with any birth control method. it started with brake threw bleeding that was light to medium the bleeding did not stop! Instead it got worse. When i got to the end of the month. i started the sugar pills when you are saposed to have your period. i thought to myself there is no way possible i could have a period after the month of brake threw bleeding surley to god there was no blood left in me. But noo it got much worse i bleed uncontrolably with medium blood clots the size of loonies i had never seen or.herd anything like this before i landed myself in emerg after going threw 30 tampoons in 7 hours where i was put threw a series of tests i was given pills to stop the bleeding and was told it was a alergic reaction.to aviane. i had blood work a month after and the blood loss showed in my blood work and i was diagnosed anemic. Soo.scarry im trying to get enough balls to try another type after this i.feel quite paronoid. Has anyone eles experianced anything like this?Read More Read Less
