This medicine has let me fall to sleep and stay asleep for up to 8 hours. I'm taking it in 50mg. 500mg. Tylenal PM solid light blue tablets. I need to take two of them each night in order to get to sleep. Could you tell me if there is any long term side effects if I continue doing this?

am 75 year old that started taking this in order to sleep more than 3 to 4 hours at night. After taking this 2 months it does not do the job. Wonder what long term effects will be??? Cannot get docs to comment nor to replace it. Seems ageism is alive and well in medicare.

I have a bad back and could not get a good nights sleep for 4 years. The medication that my physician perscribed for my back would wear off in the middle of the night, and I did not like having to increase the dosage. I began experiminting with over the counter pain medications. I found Equate PM, which has both these ingredients, have been taking it for 6 months, and it works very well. I can get a good 6-7 hours of sleep without back pain. I am just concerned about the long term effects. My back pain is only going to get worse as time goes on, and I will always have to take something. I realize that in time I will also have to increase the dosage of the Equate PM. I have to take this early in the evening, I have to get up at 4:30 to get to work on time, and I find myself very groggy from this medication.Read More Read Less
