Age 69, knee replacement surgery required long use of pain killer Vicodin which caused terrible constipation and loss of the urge to have BM's. A daily tablespoon of mineral has relieved my problems.

started taking for severe constipation, to avoid the more corrosive laxatives, I take app. 1/2 tsp daily . I orginally took 1 tbsp daily; but, encountered the oily stool and adjusted the dosage down.

Works very well for constipation if you can tolerate (and control) oily stools. Dr. said to take as often as needed as it is not harmful or absorbed BUT what are the health risks? How does liver process? How does it affect liver?

Not being able to swallow liquids unless thickened to a nectar consistancy the usual laxatives are impossible for me to use since water must be taken with it. Having fell and broken some bones I was in pain and taking pain medications. Constipation was as big a problem as the broken bones and pain. I needed the pain medicine but was becoming constipated every day I sued it and regular laxatives, stool softeners, and even enemas were not working. Just a tsp or less of Mineral oil is working and I will sing it's praises forever. An old wives remedy worked better than the staff at the ER at our local hospital could do...MINERAL OIL..Read More Read Less
