I was prescribed this ointment 2% for MRSA outbreaks. I had been having problems with boils on my arms, legs, back, scrotum, nose, etc. They tried Bactrim first and it seemed to work along with Epsom salts lotion. I would get an outbreak, get treatment (not Bactrim each time, but a 7-day antibiotic and after it was over I got MRSA boils back again. This ointment seems to be most effective in my no...

My dermatologist prescribed this medication for my exzema. Within a few days of applying the ointment based rx at bedtime, my exzema was clearing up and under control. I have been using this medication for about 3 years and I would recommend it to anyone with the same type of skin problems as myself.

I was prescribed mupirocin ointment because an ENT discovered bacteria in my nose during a consult for an unrelated issue. I had no symptoms or issues because of this bacteria she supposedly found, nor did she suggest using a milder treatment first, yet she prescribed this medication. The first time I used it, I had burning, stinging, a pounding headache and my throat felt very tight. The second time I used it, my throat was tight, my chest was tight, I had more burning and stinging both in my nose and throat, a pounding headache and my lips and hands began to itch and get puffy. Needless to say, I stopped treatment immediately and threw away the ointment and now feel just fine. Here's a not to all you doctors out there who are all too prescription happy: If it ain't broke, don't fix it!! Sheesh -- I will never take anything again without grilling the prescribing doctor up, down and under. Read More Read Less

started taking the medication about 1 week ago...to no evail. I still have the spot on my nose that I went in for treatment on. Can't imagine why it cost so much if the effects aren't that great. I would not recommend this product.

APPLIED TO INCESION AREA AFTER SKIN CANCER REMOVAL ON AN AREA OF ABOUT 3 INCHES ON MY BACK. ALSO APPLIED TO AREA WHERE TAPE AND BANDAGE WAS. I FELT RELIEF FROM THE BURNING WITHIN 5 TO 10 MINUTES. IT CAUSES A SMOOTHING CENCETATION AND ALSO REDUCES THE REDNESSES OM SKIN FROM THE TAPE,BANDAGE AND STITCHES.

I was treated for Folliculitus, an infection of the hair follicals on my neck, which my Dr. believes may be a result of my immune system being compromised. Red, itchy bumps that seemed to take over my entire neck and are now starting to show up on my face. After many OTC treatments, I was prescribed Mupirocin. It seemed to make my condition worse, more inflamation and more red/itchy, however, I am allergic to many antibiotics so this could be a side effect that few others may not experience. I continued to use it for two weeks and really saw no improvement to my condition and am now using Ketoconazole cream and Prednesone tablets, which seem to be more effective without the side effects. Just when I think it's disappearing, it seems to render itself back again and I'm not sure what to do at this point.Read More Read Less

I had a piercing that I took out, and when I took it out it immediately got infected. I went to the doctor who prescribed this medicine, and within a day I saw a huge difference. My skin was no longer red or itchy, and after about 4 days the infection was completely gone. The thing I really liked is it also moisturized the skin and didn't smell at all--compared to other topical creams that have terrible odors.
