After a terrible experience with fluoxetine in the past, I was hesitant to try any other SSRIs, but lexapro has been a real life saver. I started taking it for depression and GAD, and about a month after I got up to 20mg/day, it finally kicked in and I feel amazing. I no longer feel utterly hopeless and useless; I don't dwell constantly on negatives or worry incessantly about everything (in fact, ...

On Lexapro I am able to cope with some of the tramatic occurences of my past. I can work through them and start to find answers now, where before I was paralyzed by fear.

As long as I take the medication regularly and do not miss a dose I feel little to no life-effecting anxiety. If I miss a dose, I am a wreck!

I have my days still, but Lexapro has given me the ability to function normally so I can get along with my daily routine. The only complaint I have is that my short-term memory has not been quite as sharp since I have been on it and I know others who take it who also have the same effect.

Lexapro did the job in relieving my anxiety attacks and the accompanying depression. I have been on the medication for more than a year now. I found some of the side effects discomforting, such as weight gain and the electric shock syndrome. That being said, the positive effects of the drug far outweigh the side effects. I am able to function and my life is back to "normal" for me!

Overall, hot flashes, night sweats, palpitations, & sleep disorders have improved. Also the liquid allowed me to start with a very small dose & build up, as I have sensitivity to most drugs.

I have been taking this drug for OCD, and I have found it to be so helpful, even at a low dose of 10 mg per day. I only had some side effects the first two weeks, and after that, nothing has happened. I feel that this drug is one of the best ones out there (I have also tried Paxil and Zoloft).

What I found great about this medicine is that it not only stopped my depression, it quite effectively got rid of my anxiety.

Was on Lexapro prior to my 3rd pregnancy. Had to stop for that reason and switch to Zoloft for the gestational period. Zoloft didn't control my depression/anxiety. Following breastfeeding, psych tried me on Cymbalta which worked the first month but then made me feel suicidal (of which I have NEVER been suicidal in my life). Then, because of no insurance, psych tried Celexa trying to get a "lexapro" dose out of it. I finally gave up and demanded Lexapro back again. PostPregnancy, Lexapro is still NOT giving me the same relief of depression and anxiety as it did prior to my last pregnancy. I don't know why. I sure wish I could gain my happiness back again as before. PrePreg: Lex was great PostPreg: Lex is so-soRead More Read Less
