I have been prescribed this medication many times for tooth absesses or infections and it is the only one that cures my problem. Regular penicillin drugs never helped me at all. This also unlike the penicillin drugs will not give you a yeast infection and I never had any side effects.

Does anyone else suffer with sickness when taking these tablets? If so how do you cope with it?

Was given Keflex after having 2 skin cancers removed, to prevent infection rather than to treat it. Started feeling melancholy on the same day. Two days later I was seriously depressed and could not stop crying. This made no sense to me and is out of character. Fortunately it gelled with me that this must be a side effect of the keflex, so I stopped taking it. Made quick recover after that. I am concerned that someone could kill themself whilst in the kind of state that I was in.

I had a spider bite that turned into cellulitis. I went to the doctor and he prescribed Keflex, 500mg, 3 times a day. After only 3 days I got a very bad yeast infection, and, after 6 days on this medication, I developed a fever, which I thought was odd, because Keflex is an antibiotic, but then came the painful, muscle aches, pains, and headache. I could have sworn I had the flu! But it only lasted about 24 hours, thats it! Then I was 100% fine! So weird! I am not sure if it was the Keflex, or what, but I just found this totally odd. I called the doctor, he said maybe I got bit by a tick, I told him I was nowhere that I could have been, he said if the cellulitis is better, then stop the Keflex. So I did. Hope this helps someone. But the yeast infection, was the worst EVER!Read More Read Less

I am sensitive to medications, but never has a problem with antibiotics, until Keflex. It felt like I got turned inside-out! I don't think it completely kicked the infection, because the symptoms came back a few weeks later. Next time I used Bactrim and that worked. My daughter was on Keflex when she was 15 months. She didn't do well either.

I took this as precaution to NOT get a 2nd Staph infection after a 2nd surgery. I felt overwhelmingly fatigued and week. Would spend hours not getting off the couch because I had no strength. slept a lot but still tired. Had vivid weird dreams. The next day after I quit taking this my energy came back. I hiked 45 minutes up a steep hill in the woods by my house followed by a strenuous bike ride. Amazing night and day difference on off the drug!!!!!

I had an allergic reaction with this drug and had to call 911. Be sure you know yourself and your body before you take a drug. I'm on several other medicines and beforehand had been okay with taking Keflex. But for some reason I had developed an allergy. What happened was that I my heart started beating super fast and then I couldn't see (my doctor said this is called "blacking out" and that my body wasn't having any blood pressure for me to live and I could have possibly died from this incident. Luckily I made it out the door of my home and flagged down a neighbor and she called 911. It was so scary. There is an app on the iPhone called ICE (in case of emergency) where you can put all of your medical information including allergies and make it your wallpaper (either lock screen or home screen)- very helpful if you don't have the help of a neighbor and you are in a bind and someone needs your medical information! Oh and it's a free app!Read More Read Less

With a badly fractured wrist, in addition to a cast stainless pins were inserted to hold bones in place. Later, I began having terrible pain at those pin sites but my Dr. was out of town so I went to the ER. Nothing was done other than pain meds. A week later my hand was swollen, red, & pain was a 10 but still the ER would do nothing but prescribe Percodan. I said I don't want it, and if you don't remove the cast to look I'll do it myself. I was talking to myself; these people thought all I wanted was pain pills. My Dr. came back, called, saw me, & said I am truly sorry, I must do emergency surgery right away or you may loose your arm. This is what was done & I was on Keflex in hospital, & at home for a month by a visiting RN. In the end, Keflex stopped the infection & although my wrist is a mess, its still connected to my arm for which I am very thankful. Read More Read Less

Had a bad UTI and was prescribed Keflex. Yes, I had the diarrhea, stomach cramps, and low energy but the overall effect was great. My leg had been swollen for over a year and the Keflex took away over 10# of water weight in my leg. My orthopedic doctor was shocked as he had just seen me 2 weeks prior. Now my shoes are too big and I have lost weight in general not just my leg. I'm hoping to keep it going and lose more while on the Keflex. No blood work in a year has shown abnormal white count or infection other than when I had bronchitis. I've had at least 3 CBC's and everything was normal. Read More Read Less

I given this to treat a URI and it actually did more harm than good. I had an allergic reaction to this medication, stay away if you are allergic to Penicillin. This gave me hives, breathing problems and a fever. After this episode the next day I had to go back to the Doctors for the allergic reaction and to get new medication anyways.

I was prescribed Keflex for a knee injury from a fall and I developed chills, nausea and was hospitalized for 8 days with C-Diff diarrhea and dehydration. I have taken quite a few antibiotics in my lifetime and have never had an experience like this. This is a dangerous drug. The infection in my knee went away, but there are many other antibiotics that would have done the same thing and not caused such a severe reaction.

I have taken Keflex in the past without any problem. However, I was recently prescribed a generic form and within one week had localized migraine with Horner's syndrome (droopy eyelid with unequal pupil reaction). MRI, CT, CAT scan all negative. Office visit with ophthalmologist, neurosurgeon, ER treatment, overnight stay in the hospital and no one associated my symptoms with Keflex. I am stopping this med immediately. This may well be the most expensive reaction to a drug I have ever had. Also all involved knew I was allergic to PCN. Read More Read Less

No yeast inefction yet, all antibiotics will give you a yeast infection, so next time order difulcan when you get an intibiotic for back up. anyway, this medication ironically made my ear hurt way worse. Had to go back to doctor for a different antibiotic. This stuff was terrible for me.
