I began taking Crestor (10 mg) in June. My cholesterol level dropped from 235 to 135 in four months. However, I began experiencing hip and knee pain. It became painful to walk, and the pain was so great I was having difficulty sleeping a night. Aleve and Tylenol Arthritis didn't totally eliminate the pain. Overall, my quality of life has been significantly effected. My doctor also takes Cr...

Have family hereditary high LDL. Im 53 male. Been on Crestor over 15yrs. Stopped taking crestor to see if it was part of problem with fatigue and muscle weakness. Also was suffering memory loss. After stopping for a couple of months. My health and life improved dramatically. Done lot of research about statins. It's not a good drug to take.

I have been taking crestor 10mg for 6 months,my first dose was really strange,my head felt weird.I took the next dose the next night and it had settled down. But day by day I didnt feel great.I was booked in for surgery in the next 2 weeks and when I was recovering I kept thinking it was the anaesthetic that was having an effect on me. I was dizzy and very unsteady on my feet, crazy brain fog and very hard to concentrate, muscle ache in my calfs, shoulders and thighs.I was still blaming the anaesthetic.I booked in to have my eyes checked just on the case I needed new glasses, but my problems were still there.I felt alone when I met friends for coffee,I didnt speak much cause I was so confused. My husband noticed a difference in me and I kept saying I was confused and the brain fog was getting worse. Then I started to get depressed and avoided going out. I thought I was getting dementia which was scary. I couldnt take anymore so I went to see my doctor who immediately took me off the crestor and said I had an allergy to it which was presenting all the symptoms.I have recovered and am back to my normal self, which has taken about 6 weeks.I am taking herbal therapy to reduce my cholesterol and its working a treat. Please be aware if you are prescribed this medication,it is not for everyone and certainly wasnt for me.Read More Read Less

My Dr prescribed Crestor 10 % and within 4 days my right leg had a spasm so bad I couldn’t stand in it. I was on Simvastatin 20% and months ago I also had spasms. I stopped 3 months ago but my doctor said my cholesterol had to be controlled. I didn’t read up on the reviews, but I see so many people have the same results. I will call my Dr. immediately and tell him I’m stopping Crestor .

I began using crestor 20mg 5 yrs ago or so and immediately got muscle pain but my Dr brushed it off. I have genetic only high cholesterol and no other risk factors. Throughout the past 5 yrs i have experienced weakness, extreme fatigue, muscle and joint pain specifically in my hips both sides, stiff shoulders and terrible brain fog/ memory. I have had an overall feeling of being sick and am always going to the DR to no avail- my labs always come back normal. Yes this drug helps with lowering my cholesterol but at what cost! I chose to take myself off recently and told the dr im done. I thought i had long covid but honestly think this is it. Im off approx one week woth slight improvement but i think its going to take some time to feel better after taking it so long. Ive been reading alot about the harmful effects of statins- statin free life.. is my goal. I want to fee better! Read More Read Less

I was prescribed crestor a few years back. Within a few weeks of taking this my brain was so foggy, I was beyond forgetful and "spacey". Memory loss was an understatement. My physician kept telling me it was because I was newly menopausal. There was no doubt in my mind that i must be having early onset Alzheimer's or some kind of neurological problem. I finally realized the only new thing in my life was this crestor. I looked up side effects and did not find anything related to memory loss, remember this was at least 5 years ago. I finally found a "crestor blog" and read over and over again from many people how this medication was causing memory loss. I explained this to my physician who brushed it off and still insists my problem was menopause related. I finally decided to take myself off the medication and within a week every neurological symptom I was having completely disappeared. Now years later my cardiologist tells me there is evidence of these symptoms and how many patients complain of memory loss. Read More Read Less

Absolutely Horrific Experience, my Dr prescribed this med for me, 10 mg of Rosuvastatin, ( Male age 55) (I have a med phobia, due to being previously damaged by Klonopin) my Doctor told me I wouldn't even really notice, or suffer any side effects I went into this drug without reading about, what a bad mistake that was, the side effects took about 8 days to hit me. I still kept taking it, thinking it was something else, by day 20, my body was failing in so many regards, the worst symptom, was ( and still is 12 days currently post drug) is debilitating weakness, and also the severe calf muscle pains/tightness that others have mentioned, all rounded off by feeling nauseous 24/7 on top of it, this drug is toxic poison, it's like somebody opened up a door and pushed me into straight into hell. there is nothing positive to report of this big pharma garbage!!!!! you've been warned!!!Read More Read Less

I started Crestor about 4 years ago - it brought my cholesterol down nicely. But I didn’t realize until 3 months ago that I was allergic to it. Over time, I developed a rash that I had for 4 years. Since I have severe pollen allergies, my doctors & I thought foods were causing it, so I cut back my diet to an unhealthy degree - put all the tests were negative. It was by accident that I thought Crestor might be the cause. My doctor has me off it for another month, then I will slowly titrate up on Lipitor, over a 7 week period, because there’s a 50-50 chance the rash could come roaring back. I saw the results of a phase for clinical trial, which showed 3.49% of those taking it or allergic to it.Read More Read Less

I'm not a good pill taker. I always have side effects. I told my doctor this. Started the drug. Excellent results. 3 months later I was in the ER. Extreme diarrhea and vomiting, hot flashes and heart palpitations. Had to stay all night. They let me go and said my labs were good. I never knew why. Two days later went back to the er, scared, terrible terrible headache, high blood pressure hurts, hot flashes, scared to death. Head CT that was clear. Labs were clear. They gave me muscle relaxers and told me I was stressed out. Went to my doctor a week later and she gave me high blood pressure pills which killed me. The only thing different in my life in the past 10 years was that I started taking Crestor. It never occurred to me this could be the cause until I started reading hundreds of comments and forums. I have had a headache for 6 weeks, vertigo and dizziness every single day for a month, terrible anxiety, leg tingling and disorientation. I decided to stop the Crestor and see what happens. I didn't have that high of a reading when it came to the cholesterol, so the whole thing was not worth it. Very very upsetting to me. I'm waiting to see if I lose the side effects as it has only been three days. However, I am already convinced that is the culprit. I can handle this with other meansRead More Read Less

Went in, so innocently, for my 30 year check-up, and found out my cholesterol was in the 300s. I was floored since I'm young and otherwise healthy. Started on Atorvastatin and it took me out-fatigue, mostly. Doctor switch me to Crestor-5 mg- and I honestly have had ZERO side effects. I have a joint disease that causes me lots of pain and honestly it's been feeling completely fine lately. I'm happy, full of energy, and, though I believe the accounts here of the terror experienced by Crestor users, I just want to remind everyone that people typically review a med when it's bad for them. Everybody's bodies are different, and don't be afraid to give the med a try if prescribed because some of us are out here living happy and healthy lives on it.Read More Read Less

Over the years I have had my cholesterol around the 200 mark. But my bigger issue was the LDL and HDL ratio. In 2019, 2020 and 2021, I noticed my numbers becoming better with my HDL on the rise and my LDLs around the 115-130 mark. These last blood tests my numbers came in high (231 total) but I attributed it to vacations, Forth of July weekend and then Covid. Well my Dr wanted my LDLs below 100. So he put me on Crestor. I asked him about the side effects but he goes, well joint and muscle pain but you're middle aged so I know you you still have aches and pains in the morning so nothing new. LOL Whatever!!! He said I will give you a low does 5 mg! Knowing how my body reacts to meds, I decided it was best to just use a pill cutter and cut it in half (2.5 mg). After two days, my hands were killing me. Crazy dreams at night! Then after a couple of weeks, I started to get shooting pains in old injuries and tenderness under my arm pits. Now I am starting to get this brain fog that won't go away! Decided to call him today to put me on something else! This drug is harsh! Not worth destroying your quality of life if you are active, happy and just have border line cholesterol issues!Read More Read Less

Started Crestor 10mg 2 months and developed shoulder pain. Dr asked me to go off a few days to see if it improved. It did. I was asked to slowly go back on because my numbers were excellent. I recently went back on and I’m having gastrointestinal issues and diarrhea. Has anyone else experienced this?

After 3 years, this insidious medication just about crippled me with myopathy. The Dr tried prednisone, flexeril, and PT.It dawned on me when I was putting it in my pill case.5 days off I can finally walk without a cane. Never again!I will stick with PT to rebuild strength.Currently looking for alternatives.

I am under 30 and found myself with VERY high cholesterol numbers. 246 being my total cholesterol. My doctor kept telling me I was too young to be put on medication and just make lifestyle changes. I ended up finding a new doctor who agreed i absolutely needed to be on medication, that genetics were playing a big role. i've been on crestor for 5 months, my total cholesterol is now down to 155 and all my numbers have drastically improved. I had some numbness the first few nights on the drug, along with mild nausea. But after about 2 weeks of adjustment I felt normal again and am very happy knowing Crestor is keeping my heart healthy!Read More Read Less

Side effects are numerous. Forgetting words mid sentence, severe leg pain, muscle loss, irritability. Developed gingivitis. Sugar cravings, etc. 6'2 220 lbs active. No more statins for me. Side effects have not subsided. Constant pain and dental bills in the thousands are not worth the benefits of this drug.

Experienced dizziness and muscle pain to the extent I stayed in bed. My mind was foggy and began having problems communicating. The pain was unrelenting and intolerable. I will control my ldl through diet and exercise versus this toxin. Nonsmoker, could lose 20 pounds. Too young to feel like dying.
