In India it is available as husk. For not so severe stomach disorders it is very effective and works. We here like to take it in three ways for three different conditions. 1. For loose motions It is advisable to take it with cold water m with black salt( A kind of Rock Salt). 2. For Dysentery take it with Yoghurt plain, (In India we call it curd) Never Sweet, with Black Salt and powder of roasted Cumin Seeds. This is more effective if the yoghurt is sour (It becomes sour if not stored in fridge) 3. In constipation or incomplete bowel movement: It is advisable to mix it in Hot Milk with jaggery/ Honey or Sugar. If allergic to Milk, substitute with hot water. For simple use without hassle use it with plain water or any juice. Read More Read Less

I'm planning to try to supplement to self-treat my high LDL cholesterol within the next month, therefore my star rating is incorrect, but I had to choose in order to post this message. I also have IBS and hope that it helps with that as well. Anybody use this supplement to reduce LDL blood levels with success?

Every doctor I've ever seen has told me to increase my fiber intake, and recommended psyllium capsules. I drank lots of water as instructed. Initially, they worked just great. However, after a couple of weeks, they stopped working. I continued to take them, yet my constipation got worse. I saw several doctors who suggested adding a stool softener to the mix and eating more fruits/veggies. Well, after an entire year on the capsules, I finally had a colonic which removed a year's worth of fiber that had packed itself in my intestines. If you're getting good results, stay with it, but if you get a big belly like I did and no relief, stop taking them. In some people they do more harm than good. A better diet of real foods is the way to go. Read More Read Less
