I have been taking Valium for a little over 20 years for insomnia, anxiety and PTSD. I take 5mg in the evening and 2.5 mg (1/2 tablet) as needed during the day. It works great, no side effects. I have stopped taking for brief periods and didnâ??t suffer withdrawal symptoms. I believe this is an effective medication, it helps me function and takes away the horrible feeling that is extreme anxiety. ...

I have been using Valium for almost 3 years, but I also tried Zanex for about 6 months. I preferred the Zanex, but I didn't want to get addicted. The Valium doesn't really help anymore. So I don't know what to do. I have Buspar as well, but it doesn't work at all. I'm very interested in finding out what I can do about this. I'm very interested to find out. I have tried to talk to my doctor and he ...

I normally wake after 3-4 hours and have dificulty returning to sleep. Anxity resulting from the discovery of a serious medical condition has made this period a living Hell. One Valium 5 at bedtime has done wonders for me! Does anyone else experience extreme dry mouth from this med?

I take 30 mg of Valium each day in conjunction with Paxil CR for panic disorder. I haven't had a panic attack for 2 years. My only qualm is that I am physically dependent on the benzodiazepine, but I don't experience withdrawal symptoms if I miss a dose because of the long half-life. I started out on Xanax back in the 1990s, and it had the opposite effect. I asked my PCP if I could switch from 4 mg Xanax to 40 mg Valium each day. He said okay. Unfortunately, Xanax and Valium are not pharmacologic substitutes. Forty-eight hours later, I developed seizures. It was the scariest experience of my life.Read More Read Less

Valium 2mg tablets, has only worked, if I take 3 tablets at a time. I was on Flexeril 10mg and Xanax 0.50mg, prior to this new program. But not sure if I should go back to tell the Doctor that I have to take at least 3 tablets of valium, at a time. Again it is only 2mg. What should I do...????

Took 30 mg a day for thirty years and helped me cope with work and raising a large family.About ten years ago I stopped taking Valium and for a while smoked Cannibas.I still use Valium for stress and find that a 5 mg tablet is sufficient to take the edge off. I also use Valium to help me detox after I have had a bout of alcohol binge. My sress and anxiety was greatly helped by self hypnosis and meditation. Self help tapes and guided visualisation did wonders for me

I have been given this for TMJ and to relax the tense muscles I have as a result. I was hoping to see how this has worked for others. I have concern about the other effects/qualitiies of the drug, as I do NOT have anxiety, sleeping problems, ect. Thanks.

I curenttly take 4mg per day in 2mg doses of Xanax. I have noticed that it mildly affects my memory but have noticed that i have strange sensations that pass through my head a few times per day (best described as a head russ from standing up too quickly but not nearly as intense). Also have experienced mild twitches or acute spasms. Can anyone recommened Valium to Xanax and has anyone exp. similar affects from either? Thanks pls respond to SL-LB.

I am taking it for mood swings associated with menopause at the moment. My doctor prescribed it to me a couple years ago when my sister was dying of liver cancer to help cope with losing her. I haven't taken it that often.

I take 5 mg as needed for anxiety, and have found the drug very helpful for this purpose. I have found it difficult, however, to resist taking it more than recommended by my doctor because it makes me feel so much more relaxed, so if you have an addictive personality this is probably not a good choice for you.

very briefly (less than a week) prescribed for vertigo. Why this instead of some other medication? (such as adevert (spelling may be incorrect) In this case I am the patient. But also work as a caregiver. Note: I have taken one 25 mg Benadryl a cay for literally years for minor allergies.
